Mystic Falls High has decided to do a school production of 'Gone with the Wind'. Elena has been chosen to play Scarlet O'Hara and Stefan has been chosen to play Ashley Wilkes. Everyone is excited, especially Damon, 'cause its his favorite book.

Caroline and Stefan went to the gym to talk. They sat on one of the lower bleachers.
"What is bothering you and why are you doubting your relationship with Elena Stefan?"
Stefan hung his head down then raised it back up.
"I think that when I began seeing her, I just rushed into it without giving it much thought."
Caroline remembered how envious she was of Elena when Stefan began dating her. Deep down she wished he had picked her over Elena.
"Maybe you care for her like she's a part of your family more then a girlfriend perhaps?"
Stefan slowly nodded his head.

"Damon, you don't mean that."
He gently touched Elena face with the tips of his fingers.
"I do mean that Elena."
He caressed her cheek then went to touch her hair.
"From the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew you were the one for me."
Elena was shocked by this admission and slowly began to back away from Damon.
No, he can't be serious, thought Elena.
She turned away from him.
"Elena, I know you feel something for me. Don't lie to me, especially to yourself."
"I don't know what you're talking about Damon."
He walked over to her and caressed her arms gently.
"You remember when I almost died from the wolf bite and how sad you were."
Elena suddenly had a flashback of that night.
Elena also remembered when Katherine snobbishly boasted about allegedly loving both Stefan and Damon.
Now she began to wonder if she was even in love with Stefan.
"That was the first time you kissed me, remember?"
He pushed her hair back and slowly started to caressed her neck.
"Now, why would you had done that if you're happily in love with my brother?"
Elena tried to move away from him.
"Damon-"
He was about to say something when he saw Mrs. Collins.
"Damon, Elena, my colleagues and I were wondering if you two are both available this week during lunchtime? We want to rehearse your dance scene and bedroom scenes."
Damon wrapped his arm around Elena and she couldn't help but smile.
"Of course. We'll be available."
Mrs. Collins smiled.
"Perfect! Well, I better go back and check on Bonnie Bennett's costume fitting. See you tomorrow Damon!"

Stefan contemplated the story of 'Gone with the Wind' and his own life.
"I wanted to get to know Elena 'cause she seemed special. I never expected to be in a relationship with her so fast."
"It wasn't because she looked like Katherine; or had anything to do with your feelings for Katherine did it?" Caroline asked boldly
Stefan remembered how in love he was with Katherine and how stunned that Elena was the striking image of her.
"Honestly Caroline, I don't know."
Suddenly Bonnie came into the gym and wearing her Belle Whatling costume.
"WOW, BONNIE! You look incredible!" Caroline exclaimed.
"Thanks. Say have you two seen Elena? I am suppose to be rehearsing with her shortly."
The gym door open and Damon and Elena walked in. Bonnie walked over to Elena and pulled her arm and they began to leave the gym.
"Elena, there you are! Come we have scenes to rehearse!"
"Oh sorry Bonnie. Wow, your gown is beautiful!"
Elena looked over her shoulder and notice Damon winking at her.

Caroline quickly followed, almost forgetting she had a scene with them too.
"Hey guys, wait up!"
Damon watched as the girls left and turn his attention to Stefan.
"Well, well, well, looks like it's just you and me brother."
"Damon I'm in the mood."
"Come on Stef- You know very well that am I right."
"About what?"
"That you love someone you feel you don't deserve. Much like Mr. Wilkes himself."
"What are you trying to say Damon?"
"Caroline likes you, in case you don't realize that."
Stefan knew with his own reluctance that what Damon was saying was true.
Plus he found Caroline to be cute, which didn't help matters.
"Aw yes. Ashley Wilkes and you share that for sure. With one girl but secretly desiring the other."
Stefan ignored his brother and went to the bathroom.
"Sooner or later, you're gonna realize it!" He called out.
Damon smiled to himself as he stood in the gym alone.
The play was going to be one they would never forget.
