Billy was always scared but didn't want to tell anyone, many nights he would cry himself to sleep. He didn't feel loved by anyone, he didn't even love himself. He just wanted things to be back to the way they were, the good old days. Him and his mom against the world. His mom loved him and he knew that, but why didn't she ever try to find him? Was she lost or did she just abandon him forever. Why didn't she just run back to him right away? Why was he not good enough for her? He had so many questions and knew she would understand when they were together again and he could finally ask her. But he might never see her again.
Billy shook his head knowing his thoughts had gotten to deep. He can't think like that again, or he will hurt. He will have to hurt. Billy didn't understand why this had to happen to him. Him and his Mom were the best. Although he doesn't remember much of his Dad, he thinks he was nice.
"Earth to Billy," the caretaker waves his arm around his face to get his attention, "did you hear what I said? this placement is really good I think you'll like it. This is a good family, and can you please try not to run off again. Give them a chance." Billy looks away from her, not knowing what to say. Billy always ran because it gave him comfort, he didn't need to rely on anyone, he could live on his own just fine. Plus, he did it for most of his life. "Well if you like it or not there picking you up in thirty minutes, this is a good chance Billy. Please, please just give it a try!" The caretaker looks into his blue eyes, she cared about him and has been keeping watch of him since he was 5.
Billy's stuff was already packed up in those stupid trash bags. He rolled his eyes as he sat in the waiting room for the millionth time. He hoped that these people were stupid enough to let him run off, like most people are. His new foster parents gave him a hug and talked a lot on the car ride home. Billy wasn't listening, he didn't care. He knew he just didn't want to be with anyone, he wanted to escape the prison life has given him. He walks in to a jumpy girl hugging him and screaming. "Hi I'm darla so nice to meet you, I've been waiting for you." Although she was cute she was very annoying and she wouldn't stop talking so Billy yelled, "okay i get it." Darla went off and hugged her mom. Billy felt bad but didn't know how to comfort her.
He was scared they were gonna whip him with a belt or throw shoes at him like a lot of his other foster parents did but they were calm and didn't seem to mind. "Hi I'm Mary, nice to meet you," a tall girl with black hair says. "Hey," Billy quickly replies but she already walked off. "This is Pedro, and Eugene," his Foster mom say. Pedro was bigger and tall, and Eugene was young and not paying attention to him at the time.
"Now let me show you where you'll be sleeping, you're with Freddy, I know you guys with get along nicely." She walks off and leaves him to open the door. There is a boy sitting in a chair, and superhero stuff all over the room. "I'm Billy don't ask me any questions and I call bottom bunk." The boy turns around in his chair and faces Billy. "Look that sounds fun and all but i don't think the sleeping arrangements will be possible." Freddy stands up, his hand in his crutch, "Unless you want to uh carry me up there, it's terminal by the way." Billy regrets everything that he said, " oh uh sorry i guess not then." Freddy looks down and says, "I'm kidding," laughing a little."Oh, well I realized the beds won't matter I'm just gonna go" Billy heads toward the window. "You won't be able to get out that way," the windows had barbed wires on them. Billy turns around looking like he gave up for a bit.
Freddy shows Billy around the room. He talks about all of his superhero stuff and it seems kind of crazy. He shows Billy expensive stuff he'll steel later and that's about it. Billy doesn't really like Freddy, he is kind of nerdy and annoying, but Billy won't be here for long he was already planning a way out.
Freddy made Billy feel a calm he had never felt before which was weird. Billy tried to sleep but he tossed and turned, and just ended up crying himself to sleep. He does that a lot.
