*Hey everyone! I'm sooo sorry! I haven't updated in ages! Please read and leave a comment. ;)*
When Hermione and I wake up in the morning, I stretch and look out the window towards a hut that Hagrid had described as his.
"What's our first class?" I ask Hermione as we dress in our robes.
"Charms, after breakfast. Do you want to go down to the great hall now?" She asks me. I nod and walk out of the girls dormitory after her.
After breakfast, Harry, Ron, Hermione and I make our way to the Charms classroom. Professor Flitwick talks about what we will be learning this term and then proceeds in teaching us how to make objects float.
"Now, the spell you will all be using today is Wingardium Leviosa, but first you need to know the movement. Repeat after me, the swish and flick." Professor Flitwick said. I pull out my wand and say along with the rest of the class 'the swish and flick' moving our wands in the same movement. Professor Flitwick says that we are ready to practice the charm and gives each of us a feather.
"Wingardium Leviosa" I hear Ron say, with Hermione scolding him,
"No, no, no, you've got it all wrong it's Win-gar-dium Levi-o-sa, not Levio-sar." Ron scoffs at her and tells her to do it. I raise my wand in time with Hermione and say,
"Wingardium Leviosa!" and swish and flick our wands. The feathers in front of Hermione and I, lift off the desks and float gently through the air. Hermione grins at me and I smile back happily.
"Oh well done, Miss Granger and Miss Samson have done it!" Professor Flitwick says excitedly.
Our next class, Potions, doesn't go as well as Charms, because Professor Snape, who was Head of Slytherin House, seemed to have taken an obvious dislike for Harry and I. Neville Longbottom also seems to be hated by Snape, too.
Transfiguration is taken by the Head of Gryffindor House. Professor McGonagall, who starts the lesson by transfiguring herself from a cat to her human form. Everyone is very impressed and Hermione looked as if she wanted to burst into a long and detailed explanation about Animagus. The rest of the lesson has us trying to turn rats into goblets, but only Hermione manages it, mine is still slightly brown and furry and Seamus somehow manages to blow up his goblet and has to go to the hospital wing to get Madam Pomfrey to grow back his eyebrows.
Professor Quirrell, a pale, stuttering wizard, teaches Defence Against the Dark Arts, Professor Binns is the History of Magic teacher which, compared to the other lessons, is easily the most boring one so far.
Herbology has Professor Sprout as the teacher, who was Hufflepuff House's Head.
During our fourth day, we have a double Flying lesson with the Slytherins, which neither Harry or I are pleased about. Madam Hooch stands at the end of two long lines of broomsticks and tells us to hold our hands over the brooms and say in a commanding voice, UP! The air was full of UP's and quite a few Ow's as people got hit in the face by their brooms. Harry got his broom up on his first try and I got mine up on my second try. Madam Hooch instructs us how to mount and sit on the broomsticks and then tells us to try to hover just above the ground. Neville can't quite get the hang of it and flies up above the castle and then falls off the broom! Madam Hooch looks extremely worried and takes him off to the hospital wing. Malfoy picks up a small clear glass ball, that turned out to be Neville's Remembrall which his Gran had sent him at breakfast. Harry tells him to give the ball back but Malfoy replies with a sneer,
"No, I don't think I will. I think I'll leave this somewhere for Longbottom to find, like on top of one of the towers." With that he hops on his broom and flies up above the castle. Harry and I look at each other in unison and ignoring Hermione's protests for us to stop, we zoom up to where Malfoy is hovering and start trying to convince him to give the Remembrall back. Malfoy snorts and throws the ball high into the air. Harry and I shoot off after it. I see out of the corner of my eye Professor McGonagall staring at Harry and I in disbelief, as she sits in her office. I turn back around and see Harry catch the Remembrall in one hand. I sigh in relief and we fly back down to the group of students standing on the field below us. Professor McGonagall storms out of the castle towards us. She has a grumpy expression on her face and she orders Harry and I to follow her. She walks briskly through the castle and stops outside Quirrell's classroom.
"Could I please borrow Wood for one moment?" She asks Quirrell, who looks extremely confused, but nods all the same. Professor McGonagall introduces us to Oliver Wood, who is Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
"Oliver, I've found you a Seeker and another Chaser. I recommend you teach them the rules of Quidditch as I doubt they know how to play. I will also talk to Professor Dumbledore about the 'no first years' rule." She turns around and walks off.
Oliver Wood looks at us in amazement and begins explaining the rules of Quidditch. He also goes and fetches a worn, wooden chest and walks out onto the field beside the castle.
"Quidditch is fairly simple once you understand the rules. There are seven players which consists of three Chasers - your position, Charlie, two Beaters, a Seeker - that's where you'll be playing, Harry, and a Keeper which is what I play. There are three hoops at each end of the pitch which is where the Chasers score points for their teams and where the Keepers defend from goals. The Quaffle is what you use to score," He explains, pointing out a large red ball.
"Beaters use these bats to direct the Bludgers at players on the other team, don't look so worried Charlie, they won't hurt you, much. Now, this is what you are interested in, Harry, the Snitch is worth 100 points and whichever teams Seeker catches it first wins the hundred points and ends the game. Team practice is every Monday, Thursday and Saturday. If you two come to the Saturday practice, you can meet the rest of the team and see the beginnings of a game in action." Oliver smiles at us and packs up the chest and left. Harry and I grin and run up to the Gryffindor Common Room to tell Hermione and Ron the good news.
