I sit down at the bench and pick up a mug of thick hot chocolate. I take a mouthful of the velvety thick liquid which has just a hint of caramel-y background. I smile across the hall at Hermione who is walking slightly aimlessly across the room towards the long Gryffindor table. She sits down opposite me and pulls a plate of French toast in front of her.
I reach across the bench and steal a slice of cinnamon dusted toast off her plate and eat it as I finish my hot chocolate.
I put the last mouthful of toast in my mouth and revel in the brilliance that is French toast.
"How are you doing with Nicholas Flamel?" I question Hermione.
"Good!! Although, while we were in the library we saw Hagrid who was looking suspicious, so Ron went and checked out what he was looking at and it turns out he was looking at a whole bunch of Dragon Care books!" Hermione pauses, drinking a mouthful of pumpkin juice, "we also found out that Nicholas Flamel created the Philosopher's Stone."
"Wow!! That's impressive!" I murmur in shock.
"Also, Harry found a mysterious thing called the Mirror of Erised, which shows you what you want most in the world. For example, he saw his family and Ron saw himself as Head Boy, Quidditch Captain and someone who had done better than all his brothers." I nod in amazement.
"Why didn't you guys tell me about this? I could have helped!" I pout slightly, "also, Hagrid told Harry and I when we first met him that he always wanted a dragon." Hermione grimaces,
"I hope he hasn't done anything drastic. I'd better go find Harry, I'll find you later okay?" Hermione gets up from the table and heads out of the Great Hall. I sigh and pull myself off of the bench and walk towards the stairs, standing on one and begin to wait for it to move to the landing that the Common Room is on. I jog up the last few stairs and turn right, heading towards the Fat Lady. I look around and as I do so, I smack into a scowling girl in pigtails.
"Watch where you're going, Gryffindor!" Pansy Parkinson sneers at me, "where are your stupid friends? Or did they finally realise how dumb you are?" She smirks at me and walks off.
I speak the password to the Fat Lady and step into the Common Room, slipping up the stairs to do some painfully boring Charms homework.

*Time Skip to the next morning*

After I wake up, I decide to test out my present from Jamie. I wait until everyone has cleared out of the dormitory and Common Room before I firmly close the dorm's heavy oak door behind me and pull out my amulet. I take a closer look at it and see the teal and vermillion lines swirl to interlock and change shape. I pull an image of a baby snow leopard to the front of my mind. After a few seconds of wondering if Jamie has pranked me, blackness engulfs my vision and I collapse on the floor. I blink my eyes open and stand up, only to realise that my body is only a few inches higher than it was when I was laying down. I look down at my hands and see white and grey spotted fur, coating my too-big-for-my-body paws.
"Took you long enough to try and actually use that thing!" I hear a silky voice come from above me. I look up and see Sphinx licking a paw serenely, before turning her crystal blue gaze to me.
"You can talk?!" I exclaim in shock. She stares at me before replying,
"Yes, obviously, I'm a cat, you're a cat, we can converse. I'm so glad you chose to turn into a cat though, because I am so sick of having no one of any intelligence to talk to. I mean, seriously? I have to listen to that thing squawk all day long!"
I snort in laughter at her expression, as she scowls at Doom. She gives me a disapproving look and continues her rant.

*Five Years Later, actually no more like Five Hours Later*

"... And so I said. 'How dare you eat my last cat treat' and then he laughed and then we went to dinner.... Are you even listening to me??" I bolt up right, shaking my head to clear the drowsiness. I look out the stained glass window beside my bed and see an orange horizon swirling with pink and red tips. I rest my head on my paws in an attempt to put my now-collar amulet in my grasp. I manage to get it caught on my claw and imagine myself as a human. With a dizzying rush of vertigo, I revert back to my normal self, just as I hear Hermione come into the dorm. I collapse onto the bed and fall asleep in my clothes within minutes.

*Time Skip forward a week because reading 'I woke up and got dressed and fed Sphinx and Doom and then went to classes and hung out with Harry and Ron and Hermione' five times really shouldn't interest anyone. XD*

A week after trying out my amulet, I sit down at my desk and stare out the window at the gold and blues flecking the horizon, the sun just peeping over the edge of the Great Lake. I move my gaze to the empty sheet of parchment in front of me and begin my Arithmancy homework.
After half an hour of solid working, I stand, crack my back and smile down at my now completed work. I get up and push the heavy wooden chair under the desk, tidying away my parchments. I pick up my broomstick and leave the messy dormitory, quietly chuckling at one of the other girls who was obviously stuck on their Potions homework. I gently pull the door shut behind me and trot down the stairs. I bump into Harry, who greets me with a bleary-eyed "G'mornin Charrie." I smirk at his terrible enunciation and continue my way out to the Quidditch Pitch. I wave to Oliver, who flies down and meets me.
"Ready to practice? The others should be coming soon." He says, scowling in the direction of the changing rooms.
"I saw Harry, he looked like he had only woken up!" I laugh at Oliver's dismay. I turn to see George, Fred, Katie and Angelina walking across the pitch, with their well-groomed broomsticks.
We wait for ten minutes and decide to start the practice without Harry, and after twenty minutes of a mini version of Quidditch, but with only three people on each team, George passes a ball too hard towards Katie who is facing the other way.
"KATIE!!" I hear Angelina gasp as her friend turns her head and gets smacked straight in the face. Instantaneously, the whole team flies over to Katie, who miraculously didn't lose her grip on her broom. Oliver looks horrified and declares practice over and takes Katie by the elbow and pulls her gently in the direction of the hospital wing.

I get changed and meet Harry and Hermione at the long Gryffindor table, that is laden with assorted lunch foods. I sit down on the opposite side of the table and pick up a slice of quiche. Spooning some tomato relish onto my plate, I ask wearily,
"What's happened to Ron now?" Harry sighs and answers,
"Hagrid has gotten himself a dragon, which in the last three days has grown big enough to badly damage Ron's hand. The other day we were talking to Hagrid about how he really needs to get rid of Norbert - that's the dragon, by the way - and we saw bloody Malfoy peeking through the window, and he definitely saw Norbert and now we think he's going to tell, but through a stroke of pure genius I remembered Charlie!"
"How kind of you," I say drily, "what do I have to do with getting rid of a dragon?" Hermione sighs at my confusion (more likely my sarcasm) and explains,
"We mean Charlie, Ron's brother, not Charlie, our friend!" I poke my tongue out at Hermione and she continues, "Charlie is studying dragons in Romania, and some of his friends are going to pick him up on Saturday night, but now, Malfoy has borrowed one of Ron's books, and it has a letter from Charlie, confirming that they'll pick him up on Saturday at midnight from the highest tower, and we are worried that he will tell McGonagall." I arrange my expression into a determined one and tell Hermione 'not to worry, I'll deal with that delinquent' and storm off.
