I lay in my bed, with my phone in my hand, raised up high so I could see the screen. I saw a hilarious meme and my phone fell straight onto my face.

I heard loud laughs from the other side of my room and saw Shawn holding up his phone. He definitely saw what happened and definitely recorded it.
"Y/N say hi to everyone!!" He said and walked closer.

He turned his phone to me and I sat up. Apparently he was FaceTiming his family. Aaliyah was also laughing hard and Karen smiled a bit but still showed her concern.
"Y/N honey are you okay?"

I rubbed my nose
"Yeah no that hurt but I'm fine. HI LIYAH!!" I squealed loudly and snatched it out of Shawn's hands. I hadn't talked to all of them in forever.

I used to live in Pickering, and my mom and the Mendes' were close friends. My dad passed away when I was a year old and they've always been very kind to us. Like a second family to me. I always loved Aaliyah. She was really down to Earth and wise beyond her years. 10 people would tell me do one thing and if she said do the other one, I'd listen to her. My mom worked several jobs to cover make ends meet, so I was often over at their house for dinner and lunch, and I was used to Karen's food. Manny didn't hesitate one bit to make me feel like her real daughter and Aaliyah was cool with it because she would love to have me a sister.

They really helped me with everything, even my mom did. And she will be my biggest role model till this day.

And it was amazing having Shawn with me. He and I joined MagCon together, and became famous together. Every step of the way. I was there with him when Stitches gained attention, and he was there when I released Good For You.

"I missed you guys so much! HEY MANNY! Karen what's up!!!"

"Yeah I don't feel ignored at all." Shawn said as he sat down on my bed.

"Shut up. I missed all of you." I say and hug him shortly.

"You can video call us anytime! We won't mind." Manny said from behind.

"I will for sure. And I need help with easy cooking ideas because living alone absolutely sucks."

"I'll tell you everything about it."

"So what's up with all of you?" I asked

"NOOOOOOOO." Aaliyah suddenly shouted.
"We- MOM! I have my hockey practice in 15 minutes!!"

"No you don't it's Thur-" Karen says but Aaliyah says something quietly to her and Karen nods.

"Oh sorry I forgot."

I could tell they were obviously lying.

"Shawn! Will tell you everything that's going on with us.. Byeeeee." Aaliyah says and immediately ends the call. I give Shawn a weird look and he just shrugs. I could tell even he was lying. They were up to something, definitely.

"What happened to your old phone?"

"Um I broke it? And I changed my number too. A lot of crazy people had it."

"Oh okay just text me later so I can add you." I say and he nods.

His European leg of the tour was over and it felt like yesterday when I was screaming all his songs in Amsterdam.

"Are you going to the Met Gala this year?" He asks as I hand him back his phone.

"YES! Oh my god it's gonna be so so fun. You went last year, anything I should know?"

"Just that everything backstage is insane." He says and winks.

"Is it necessary to have a date?"
