Within Mount Justice, the home of Superboy, M'gann and Kohl, as well as the headquarters of the young justice team, the amnesiac alien sits alone in his room trying and failing to stop his shaking hands. The alien boy clenches his fist, becoming increasingly frustrated by his injury. A thin, fiery, clear aura forms around his fist, startling the boy. He unclenches his fist and the aura dissipates as quickly as it appeared. The boy stares down at his hand in curious bewilderment, having completely forgotten his previous frustration. Kohl is shocked to find that whatever had just happened had eased the pain in his hand, almost completely stopping the shaking in his hand. Unfortunately, the shaking returns moments later and a scowl crosses the boy's face. "What was that? Better yet, how do I get it back?" Clenching his fist and attempting to recreate the aura, he sighs when he fails to achieve any results.

"Recognised: Superboy; B-0-4" The sudden robotic call-out diverts Kohl's attention from his shaking hands. He attempts to stand, using the wall to balance himself when his legs almost give out from beneath him. The boy grunts in dismay, aggravated by his own powerlessness. He glances at the pair of crutches leaning against the wall nearby before clicking his tongue in defiance, choosing to forgo the help and hobble his way out to the main room by himself. The young alien eventually hobbles his way to the main room where he finds Superboy standing at the entrance with his arms crossed. He almost calls out to the clone when he notices the two heroes in the room ahead, with M'gann hugging one of them.

Kohl hobbles into a position beside Superboy, gaining nothing more than a side glance from the clone before he's quickly ignored. The Yasaijin boy could almost swear he heard a scoff come from his teammate. "What's going on? Who are they?" Receiving nothing but silence from the clone, the alien boy is startled when he hears a deep voice emanate through his mind. "I am Martian Manhunter. It is a pleasure to meet you, Warrior. Batman has informed me of your circumstances." The startled boy immediately looks towards the green Martian, coming to the conclusion that such a voice would come from the tall, bald, green man. "Hi. Still not used to that." "You'll have plenty of time." The female standing next to Martian Manhunter speaks up as she walks towards the boy, meeting him halfway as he does the same.

The two share a handshake before the heroine introduces herself. "I'm Black Canary. I'll be the team's hand-to-hand instructor." The heroine's attention is drawn down to the boy's hand as they release each other from their respective grasps. "Your nerves are still acting up, huh? Don't know what I was expecting. Guess I'm just used to aliens healing faster than us." Kohl chuckles awkwardly in response, repeatedly clenching and unclenching his hand, half attempting to bring back the aura from before and the other half lamenting the injury itself.

As the two are talking, Superboy attempts to saunter away, likely to return to his room and sulk about Superman again. "Stick around." Black Canary calls out to the fleeing boy, stopping him in his tracks. "Class is in session." Superboy crosses his arms but otherwise seems to accept the situation. Canary turns to face Kohl again and lightly places her hand on the boy's shoulder. "Why don't you come too? You're injured so I won't make you fight but you should still watch. You might learn something, seeing how we fight here on earth." Kohl nods solemnly, inwardly disappointed that he won't be partaking.

The group soon find themselves in the training room, standing in front of a circular platform. Kohl gazes around at the room with an odd sense of familiarity permeating his being, scratching at the surface of his mind. Meanwhile, Canary saunters into the centre of the stage as the tiles turn white with a blue ring outlining it like a barrier. I consider it an honour to be your teacher." She turns towards the group, facing away from the lone Superboy. "I'll throw a lot at you. Everything I've learned from my own mentors." She grunts as she removes her jacket, having pulled at her bandaged wound in the process. "And my own bruises." She adds, bracing her wrappings with her other hand for a moment.
