A few days later, you found yourself alone in a small cafe doing homework. You usually chose the quiet sanctuary of a library to do your work, but, today, you didn't mind drowning out the sounds of chatting students and clinking glasses with your earbuds.
You had exchanged text messages with Akechi over the past few days but, it was nothing major. You managed to settle on Friday as the day when you, him, and the gang would get together for dinner.
You were definitely looking forward to it and you hoped he was too as this would be something new for him. Feelings aside, you wanted him to have real friends and you had the perfect group of friends to introduce him to.
You lightly bit down on your pen cap, lost in thought.
You couldn't possibly imagine where you would be without your group of friends. They had been with you through thick and thin and you'd do anything for them. It, honestly, saddened you to think Akechi hadn't experienced anything like that in his academic career, let alone in his life.
But, hopefully, that would soon change.
Hm?
You suddenly pulled your pen out of your mouth when you noticed a shadow appear over your textbook and notebook. You looked up to see two girls standing next to you.
Dina and her friend from a few days ago.
"Hi," you saw Dina mouth with a smile, but you couldn't hear her thanks to the music blasting in your ears from your earbuds.
You pulled one out from your ear and said, "Hi..." It sounded almost cautious.
"Can we sit?" she asked.
You looked towards the empty seats at your table and back at them. "Uh, sure." You quickly cleared the table of your belongings and placed them in your bag.
"We saw you with Akechi the other day and wanted to introduce ourselves! I'm Dina and this is Sumi," the red head spoke, sitting down.
"Hi!" Sumi waved before pushing her blonde locks off her shoulder.
"I'm Y/N. Nice to meet you."
"This is probably weird but...," Dina continued. "We wanted to know if you've spoken to Akechi recently?"
You looked at her, confused. "Yeah... why?"
Dina rolled her eyes and looked over to Sumi. "Ugh, he must be ignoring my messages then."
Sumi looked to you and frowned. "Sorry if we interrupted your studying for this."
"Oh, right, sorry," Dina followed, a bit impatient.
You shook your head and smiled. "Don't worry about it. I was distracted anyway."
"So, how do you know Akechi?" Dina asked.
"I met him through my friends who are pledges for his frat."
"Aww, that's cute."
Sumi smiled. "I hope we get to meet them and wish them luck!"
Dina flipped her hair. "They'll probably get chosen anyway since you're close to Akechi."
"Excuse me?" you asked, a bit offended. You hoped she wasn't implying anything...
"Awww, come on, girl. Let's not be so modest. You just want your friends to be chosen, right? We totally get that!" she said in a low voice so no one would hear.
"Dina..." Sumi said, her head low.
You stared at her for a few seconds. "That's not-"
"It's okay, Y/N. We won't tell him. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do."
