"What the hell..." you said out loud, staring at the note with furrowed brows. Who wrote this? And how did it get in my purse?
You turned around and leaned against the counter in the bathroom. It seemed as if you'd read over the note about a hundred times.
But, it's message never became any clearer.
Don't trust who!? I only know two people at this event.
You bit your lip, trying your best to think of what to do. Perhaps, recollecting the events of tonight would hopefully give you some type of clue as to what was going on but you knew it'd be a long shot, considering you weren't all that great at paying attention to minute details.
It also was worth mentioning that you were at an event where the focus was more on the art work rather than the actions of others. That only made it more difficult to think about everything that happened that night.
However, it couldn't hurt to try.
You sighed, trying your best to calm your nerves. Let's see...
You had spent most of the night with Akechi and hadn't seen him put his hand anywhere near your purse, or so you thought. And what would Akechi gain from writing creepy notes and dropping it into your purse? And who would he even be writing this note about? Yusuke? You shook your head. The only reason you were at this event was because of Yusuke. So, you crossed out Akechi's name on your mental list of suspects.
Yusuke couldn't possibly have done anything either. Right? Yeah... He barely even touched you the entire night. Plus, he had been busy trying to meet everyone who admired his work. How would he have time to write you a note and secretly place it into your purse without anyone noticing?
You groaned as you turned around to face the mirror. You were getting nowhere.
And your lipstick was still smudged. You reached into your purse and took out some make up wipes and your lipstick, ready to fix the mess your face had become.
And despite your outward attention towards your lipstick, your thoughts were still on the note.
Nothing really stood out to you besides going through the crowd. That was the only plausible situation where someone could have easily dropped the note into your purse. But, who would do that? And who would they even be writing the note about?
You couldn't possibly think of any reason as to why anyone would write that about Akechi... or Yusuke, for that matter (even if you had just met him).
You then heard your phone vibrate within your purse. You quickly fished for it and turned it on to see Akechi had texted.
Akechi: Hey, are you okay? You've been in there awhile...
Akechi: Are you sick? Do you need anything? You, honestly, did feel just a bit sick and on edge after reading the note. Frankly, you just wanted to go home and not have to think about it.
And although it made you feel guilty for ending the night early, you also didn't want to be here anymore. You felt creeped out and almost violated.
You: A little bit... Can you take me home?
You began putting your things back into your purse, including the note, just as Akechi texted back.
Akechi: Of course. I'll be by the hallway near the bathroom.
You quickly collected yourself and exited the bathroom. When you found Akechi, he was speaking with Yusuke. He and Yusuke both turned their heads when they heard the sound of your heels clacking against the floor.
