Woods Clancy stared out the window of his small "home". It really wasn't his home at all, just a shelter to make sure he doesn't die. That's how the wizard paid him. It's how he always paid him, it was always like that and it never changed. See, Mr. Clancy was a wizard's apprentice. He helped and worked for a wizard, in which that wizard, Woods claimed to be mentally insane.

Mr. Clancy's boss, Noam Otto; was a hardworking but childish persona. He usually found himself playing with his own hair while working on things that were insanely delicate. His outfit; which usually consisted of a fancy polo shirt, a bowtie, some khaki pants, and a polar bear white lab coat; usually got dirty by the end of the work day. Despite his small figure, he liked to hide his most important ingredients on the highest shelf in his workshop, which Woods always had to retrieve.

It was pouring rain outside this day. Which meant that Woods had nothing to do. Occasionally, while sulking at his window, someone would pass by and say hello. It was nobody that he knew, sadly, but he appreciated every social interaction. Every now and then, he would have a bird or some other creature stare at him from afar; Which meant that he would of course have a staring contest. He always lost it though.

''Only 3 hours left'' The dirty blond haired boy said aloud with his mature and monotone voice, a raspy grumble came out with every word he spoke. He was excited, all right. For in 3 hours, it would be the harvest festival. Rain or shine, it happened every year. Never delayed. This year, for the play, the town's drama club would be acting out "Shot in the dark", One of the town's original plays.

This play had a certain tone to it that said somehow, "Back off, I'm a brave warrior who's fought a thousand wars". Nobody knows how it gained that reputation, but Woods liked the play's performance team nonetheless. They acted it out every three years, and boy were they all talented. Mr. Clancy looked up to them as idols, and want to be just like them when he grows up

"Good afternoon, Woods" Someone waved at the boy from outside, her short but slim structure barely holding onto a basket of tomatoes; and her long brunette locks shielding her left eye, her clothes, hair, and the woven basket are wet from trudging through the pouring rain. She doesn't look very happy.
"Good afternoon, Abby. Did your mom send you to sell the crops today?" Woods chuckled, as it was an ongoing joke with the girl and Woods.

Abby gave a glare and scoffed at him,"Yes, she gave me some tomatoes today. It's heavy. I'm going to keep walking and ignore everything you say because I truly don't care" She adjusts the basket in her hands, groaning a bit as it hurt her muscles, and walks past Woods' window.

Woods let out a small chuckle, surprised at the girls' words. He mocked her a bit by mumbling that sentence under his breath in a girly tone.

"Hey." A raspy and tired voice spoke next to Woods, which made the boy let out a high pitched screech. Turns out it was just his boss, Noam, who had snuck his small figure next to the boy.
"Haha, did I scare you?" The man teased, at which Woods let out a huff. "You almost gave me a heart attack, you dwarf"
"hey, hey, I'm older than you,"
Noam spoke with a firm voice. "Treat me with respect, or I'll make you get the frogs next time we go out shopping"

Woods shuddered at the thought of grabbing frogs, as he was deathly afraid of them.

"I'm just joking, beanstalk" Noam chuckled, his laugh was more of a wheeze than a 'hahaha' laugh. Woods and his boss liked to tease each other with insulting names, they weren't really bothered or offended by it. They seemed to treat each other as old friends instead of the usual 'apprentice and his boss'.

"So, are you excited for the festival? I sure am, there's great food there. And it's all SUPER cheap!" Mr. Otto has a smug expression on his face; The kind of smug face that Woods laughed at, because it looked so dumb.
"Yeah, I am. only..." He looks over at a clock on the wall. "2 hours left. Man, I can't wait for the play"
"You mean that play? The one that they do for the elementary school students?" Noam looks at Woods with a confused and slightly annoyed facial expression.
"Yeah, what about it? they are a good performance team" Woods hummed as he stared outside, the rain settling down a bit.

"I mean, you're not wrong..."
Noam looked outside as well, agreeing with the statement.

"an hour left till the festival, wanna go play some Mancala?" Woods asks, in which his boss agrees to it...
