Recap:

"Bro. What are you doing?" Royce asked me as he jog towards me. I didn't mind him and continue walking down the hospital hallway. He immediately catch up with me and grab my shoulders.

"Riley. You know Casey needs you there." He said bitterly, his voice with a hint of disgust.

I shrugged off his hand.

"Don't tell Jake about me and Casey." I told him firmly as I glare at him. My hands clenched in fist, my knuckles started to whiten. He looked at me like I'm a crazy person but he still didn't protested. My look says it all. I've made up my mind. I walked off again my glare intimidating the floor I'm stepping on.

"I don't deserve her."

 Riley POV

It's been almost a week since I haven't go to school. I've never visited Casey too. And it's killing me. Every day passed by and it's getting harder and harder for me. I can feel my body getting weaker. I don't know if it's because I haven't been eating and sleeping lately or is just the deathly pain of leaving my own mate for her own sake. It's selfish of me to decide this for her, but I know, the person she is, she won't allow me to take all the blame of these misfortunes for her. I can imagine her smile as she says, 'hush baby, it's alright. I understand.' Geez. Here I am again, thinking about her. It's really frustrating and the pain won't go away.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when suddenly someone knock on the door.

"I don't wanna talk." I answered, my eyes still closed as I lay flatly on my bed. I heard the door crack open. I turn to my side, not wanting to have a conversation with anybody.

"I said I don't wanna talk Ben."  said as I heard him take another step.

"That's a nice way to talk to your bestfriend."

I spun around and saw Jake leaning against the door frame. He pulled my computer chair and set it beside my bed. I sit up and do the brotherly handshake we always do.

"What's up?" I ask him, though my voice is giving a hint that I don't wanna talk.

"No. It's you what's up? You haven't been to school for days. You didn't even pick up my calls or even text me back." He looked at me accusingly.

"You sounded like an overly attached girlfriend." I joked trying to hide my restlessness.

"And you look like an overly attached boyfriend that has been dumped by his lover." He joked back. I gritted through my teeth as I remember Casey, and the pain I'm feeling right now.

"Look. Just fvckin' leave me Jake. I'm not in the mood." I said pointedly at him, almost growling.

"But I needed someone to talk to." He said frowning. I look at him and furrowed my eyebrows for him to spill it out.

"It's Pomey. I mean, Casey." He gulped as he mention my mate's name. I felt shiver run down through my spin and my stomach start to swirl.

"What? Something happened to Casey? Is she alright?" I asked intently. Jake brush his face with hands as he sighed heavily.

"She's not attending school. Don't answer texts or calls too. I've tried to talk to her but she always ask her dad to shoo me away and say she don't wanna talk to anybody else. I asked Jessica if she know what's up with Casey and she says that Casey is sick and her father told Jess that she's getting worse each day." He narrated. I grab my bedsheets and felt pang of pain and anger within me.
