Sylvas be with you! Welcome to the first installment of (RE)fractions. "What? What is this," you ask? This is like the editorial or letters' page from Marvel comics of days of yore. You can write to me here, and I'll be happy to respond. Human consciousness contact through the Internet! Cool, right?
The other day, Maddie caught sight over my shoulder of me working on the cover for the next issue. She goes, "Daddy, you're already working on #3? Good job! It only took you two years to do #2!" She was so proud of me. But "two years"--yikes, right? She's so sweet. She meant it to be really encouraging. Truth is, #2 and #3 are two parts of the same story, but both have a lot of that material I was working on over those years.
I basically had a whole different character (who might still show up in some shape or form in the future) and different villain (who will definitely still show up in a future issue) who have since been edited out. Once I cut them, with apologies, the story got a new focus and energy. I feel like they're real people, but they just weren't what this story needed at this point. "Kill your darlings" they say.
Plus, I was still working to a "legacy" format for print publication. Now that I'm rocking-and-rolling with Wattpad, I feel a much faster creative flow. I can get a real momentum going by posting periodically that I couldn't get otherwise. Do any of you find that? Why do you like writing and sharing through Wattpad?
This brings me to my next inquiry. I'd really like to know more about my readers, so you're more than just analytics, you know?--what you're into, what you write, and why you're reading Redemptor or what you dig about it. I'd love to hear from you.
I've been studying old issues of Chris Claremont's Uncanny X-Men, how they were formatted, and one of the things I always used to love was when they posted the cover for the next issue in the bottom right corner of the letters page. So, here it is, the cover of the next issue of REDEMPTOR ADVENTURES... Please follow so you'll get the notification when the next issue releases.
I look forward to reading what you have to say about Planet Fait, and about yourselves!
