37-"And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last.
38-And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.
39-And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God!"The Centurion had seen hundreds—if not thousands of crucifixions. He thought it was just like any other crucifixion. But when he saw Jesus cry out and announce it was His time to die, ("Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.' When he had said this, he breathed his last." -Luke 23:46, he knew He was truly the Son of God. No other person being crucified had ever announced their own death, other than Jesus. Jesus chose when he was to die on the cross, when he was to give up his spirit, when it had truly been paid in full. The Centurion was in Awe.
