Sorry, this one's a shorter one but I hope you enjoy it!!!
Hunter and I finally lose our trailers and stop at a hotel for the night. We figure that if they suspected I was staying in the forest they might look there for a while. I still feel unsafe hiding out in the open like that, but Hunter assures me that they won't look for us here. He says that he was there after I left. They made it a very noteworthy thing. The heir to their city murdered her best friend, a government representative. Then their beloved princess ran away from her death sentence. To my disappointment, they did not inform the city that they were all experiments. That the shots they got everywhere not to keep them healthy. They were to track there every movement.
It occurred to me that while it stopped taking my shots years ago I don't know when Hunter did. If they're still in his bloodstream it could be how they detected us so fast after Hunter arrived.
"Hunter, when did you stop taking your shots?"
"I never started taking them."
I did not expect that. I figured that when they found him alone in the forest at the age of six they would have made sure he took his shots daily. I guess not.
We settle into our room in the rundown motel we found for the night. Hunter, the gentleman he suggests I take the floor and he will take the bed.
"Yeah right," I say sarcastically.
"What? I thought it as a great idea" Hunter replies joking.
Hunter settles onto the floor and I settle into the bed. Right as I'm about to fall asleep Hunter asks.
"What was it like when your parents died on their mission, and you had to be the new ruler?"
"They didn't die on the mission. The government slaughtered them." I say as a tear rolls down my cheek at the thought of my parents.
"Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't know."
"Don't worry about it. No one knows."
"Not even Sophie?" He asks referring to my dead best friend.
"Oh no. Sophie knew she didn't believe it."
"Wow"
"I know. Some best friend she was."
Hunter gets up from his spot on the floor and comes to sit in bed with me. I start crying harder.
"Come here," Hunter whispers. I lay my head in his lap and he strokes my hair. I fall asleep crying in his arms thinking to my self I should be stronger than this.
