- "Emily get up!" I hear my mom yell.
I groan and slowly get out of bed. My mom comes rushing up the stairs 5 minutes later.
- "Did you forget what day it is?" She asks.
Suddenly my very poor memory comes back to me. It's my aptitude test. I run to my closet and pick out my regular dauntless atire, a black crop top, black leggings and black boots with silver chains. I throw my hair into a high pony tail and add a black and gold clip to it.
- "Breakfast is on the table. I'll meet you in the car." My mother says as she heads down the stairs.
Just like my mom had said, a small plate of bacon and eggs was waiting for me. I ate it all in 2 minutes and ran to meet my mother in the car.
- "Alright let's go." I say.
She starts the car and were off to the Hub, where the apptitude tests will begin.
During the drive I think about the test...
I wonder what it's like? Faction members aren't allowed to talk about the aptitude test so I have no idea what to expect. I'm also very anxious to know my result, I know that I'm dauntless born and very likely to get a dauntless result, but there's some part of me that wants to experience the unknown.
- "Emily were here." My mother says as she claps her hands, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I go join the other 16 year old dauntless.
- "Someone overslept." My friend Lauren says.
- "Ya, I kind of forgot that it was today."
- "Hahaha great memory you have there!"
I smile and look for Lucas, another one of my dauntless friends.
- "Hey have you seen Lucas anywhere?" I ask.
- "Nope haven't seen him all day." Lauren replies.
- "Hm... Weird."
About 20 minutes later we're all taken inside, where we're seated with the other members of our faction. Everyone is mostly quiet, well except dauntless, obviously. I chat until I hear my name called.
- "Emily Shire."
Inside the small room there is a computer screen and a dentist-like chair. There is a small dauntless woman sitting in front of the computer.
- "Hi I'm Tori. I'll be your test administrater." She says, giving me a forced smile.
I smile back and take my seat in the chair. Tori gives me a small cup filled with a clear liquid, not water though.
- "Drink up." She orders.
I take a deep breath then drink the whole thing, then everything goes black.
I wake up in a room surrounded with mirrors. I look at my dauntless reflection shining on each and every one of them. Then a voice comes out of no where.
- "Choose." The voice demands.
I see two tables in front of me, one with a knife and the other with cheese.
- "Choose now before it's too late." The voice barks.
I hesitate but finally end up taking the knife, dauntless instincts.
Then the tables are gone and replaced by a big menacing dog. It's coming right at me. I bite my lip, something that I do when I'm nervous. I feel like I have to use the knife, but I can't kill the dog, it never did anything to me so why would I kill it? Instead I just start running to it at full speed, just to intimidate the dog. Then suddenly a girl appears out of no where and starts running towards the now sweet cute animal.
- "Doggy!" She yells.
But right when she approaches the 'doggy' it turns into the ferocious beast from before.
- "Hey! Be careful!" I yell at her.
The little girl turns and looks at me confused. The dog is coming at her. I run and push the dog away just before it can reach her.
The dog disappears and then it's only me and the little girl, she's not smiling like I expected instead she looked confused.
Then I wake up.
