Pinkie stared into the clear crystal ball that held nothing. She stared and stared, but nothing came.
Starting to get frustrated, she clamped Gummie's toothless jaws onto her neck.
"Aggghhhh," she groaned, "I wish I could just get this right!" she pretended to fall backwards onto her floor, crashing into a wall and making some fake choking noises, before closing her eyes. Her hoof was placed dramatically across her forehead, the other splayed across her chest.

The dramatised 'death' was halted by her short, drawn out fits of giggles. Gummie still clung harmlessly to her neck and her eyes were bright with manic excitement,
"Ohhh, but what about when I do!" she squeals, hopping about, somehow avoiding the clutter of boxes and magical items and books.

If anyone she knew knew that she did these things, they would banish her from the lands. Could they banish her? Would they? Thinking about it, they did need her element of laughter.

But that was an issue for future Pinkie Pie. For now, she was safe and happy. With a tap of her hooves, her equipment disappeared to a nowhere place (definitely not the basement).
Someone's at the door.

As she opened the door, she saw a neatly-groomed lilac coat and large, bright green spikes in her sight. Twilight's fringe was growing longer and the blatant dye in her hair was fading off. She put on her usual smile and laughed, "You really need to sort that back out," Pinkie giggled. Twilight groaned, "Don't mention it. Ponyville's been running short on the right colours. Imma go to Canterlot tomorrow anyway." Twilight shrugs, "Anyway, can I come in?"

Pinkie nods eagerly, "'Course!"she moves out of the way to let her friend and co-worker in. It was close to winter, and so her bright pink fur and hairs infected this place, strands being found wherever Pinkie hopped. Twilight mutters something under her breath, "So I came here to tell you something." she takes a small breath, her eyes glimpsing panic for a few seconds.

Twilight sits, her flank flaying out a little at one of the tables. Pinkie follows her, sitting as she does just opposite her, "We're having a meeting tomorrow," the pink pony cocks her head. During work and as her role, she was quite oblivious to politics, but as a pony, she was actually very observant and can listen for quite long times, though spontaneous about it.
"It is regarding the new leader of the Crystal Empire. We believe that due to Cadence's recent death, it has caused many people, including the new prince, to blame Ponyville for her death. If it is not resolved soon, it may result in a war in the next couple of weeks."

Pinkie's heart sinks, "A-a war?" she mumbles quietly, heat rising through her body as her fragile heart began to pump faster. She didn't want to fight. She never wanted to fight.
Twilight nods sadly, "A war." Her ears drooped and wings shook. She knew the capabilities of the Crystal ponies. It was something she didn't want to get involved in, ever.

The massive door to the conference hall swung open. Pinkie grimaced as she watched Twilight come out. Her head was hung low and ears to the back of her head. Her tail was between her legs and the colours bright, opposing her current mood.
The pink pony watched Twilight as the last slither of hope left her torso, "Negotiations failed. We are officially at war with the Crystal Empire. Celestia has agreed to give us the aid of Canterlot,"

Pinkie stared at the floor, pupils dilated and eyes stinging. Twilight patted Pinkie with her feathered wing, though it did not much to comfort her. Dash wouldn't be happy about this. While they had Canterlot on their side, the sizzling rays and tough hides of the Crystal Ponies would burn a pony's heart to nothinf but a mere prune.

She sat on the floor, unblinking for what felt like days, though only stood as a few hours. Her mind rushed with panic, fear. Pinkie was terrified. Not of the thought of death or losing the war. But the thought of losing Rainbow. Her ever-love. Her infatuation stood stronger than anything and always would through the depths of hell and back again.

Pinkie felt a soft hoof on her shoulder. Not even her Pinkie senses could function properly to tell who it was, "Hey," the voice spoke softly, instantly being recognised as her beloved Dash.
"I heard you were still here. We have to go back to Ponyville." Pinkie felt and heard small gushes of wind as Dash tried to pull her forward, though to no avail.

Pinkie began to sob a little bit, "I-I don't want to go back." she muttered, glancing down and the behind her to Rainbow, who was still in the air. Rainbow shakes her head, "We have to. It won't be any safer here than it is in our home. They could attack at any time."
"B-But..." she squeaked, tears beginning to form in the corner of her eyes. Rainbow shook her head once more, "Pinkie, please?"

She heaves out a shaky sigh, "O-okay." Rainbow moved to leave, but saw the her rigid stance, "Dashie?" she stutters, looking up at her.
"I need to tell you something."

Dash nodded, "Of course, what is it?"

Her mouth still hangs open, nothing but meaningless sounds scratching out of her tight throat.
She stares at the sky, glancing back to Dash and shaking her head.

Pinkie jumped, dragging Dash down with her to the ground and meeting her lips. She blushes and she felt heat flow through Dash's body.
Pinkie sits up, still on top of Rainbow. Rainbow was shocked, but couldn't argue. Was she just being nice, or did she generally like Pinkie back?

Rainbow stared back up at the ceiling. This was her chance. This was her chance to return her own feelings, but how? An embrace, another kiss?
The multi-coloured pony wraps her hooves around Pinkie, still on the floor and drags her back down. She kissed her once more before standing up and staring at Pinkie with wide and yet relieved eyes.

Pinkie no-longer felt ashamed to say it and whispers in her ear, "I love you," Dash nods, smiling a little and whispers back, though hesitantly, "I love you, too."

Muahaha, second chapter coming soon. And then a third. Very soon, actually.
