2. Camp

It all started in the spring of 2011

"Everyone! We are leaving in 10 minutes!" Ashton yelled.

Calum's whole class including the other classes were entering the school bus. Calum had begged Ashton to be a team leader and guide for his school camping trip this year. Ashton was older than him, wiser and not grumpy like those teachers from his school. He was sure everyone would like Ashton. Even though Ashton wasn't attending his education on Norwest Christian high school but on Richmond High School he still was allowed to join the leader group which consisted out of the teachers of Norwest Christian High School. A teacher called of last minute and the principal was desperate for a new team leader. When Calum heard the news he immidiately called Ashton, who was at first hesitating to go with him, but joined anyway making Calum extremely happy!

"Hey Ash!" Calum said happily as he stood next to Ashton. "There you are" Ashton said and smiled while wrapping his arm around Calum's neck and messing up his hair. "Oi" Calum said chuckling as he pushed Ashton off in a playfull manner.

"Oh my goosh! Ashton is that you! You've grown so much!"

The two turned around to see Liz Hemmings coming their way.

Calum's eyes filled with sparks as he saw the dimples that appeared when he smiled. Ashton giggeled and Calum couldn't wish anything but to have a perfect smile like that. Calum instantly smiled to himself too.

"Yes it is me ma'am, how are you?" Ashton said as he brought Liz into a hug. "Ooh i'm doing great sweetheart" Liz said and pulled away from the hug.

"Miss. Hemmings? Uhm where is Luke?" Calum asked. "he forgot his puffer, so he went to the car, he'll be here in just a second honey" Liz said and smiled. Calum nodded and smiled back.

"Calum!" He heard a fammiliar voice yell. He turn to look at Michael who was running towards him with his pikachu hat on.

"Hi!" Calum said and ran towards Michael. Michael opened his arms for Calum to jump in. Calum did so and Michael embraced him in a spinning hug. The hadn't seen each other the whole summer vacation since Michael was visiting family in Melbourne.

"I missed you" Calum whispered. "I missed you too buddy" Michael said. "We got a lot to catch up on!" Michael said as he wrapped his arm around Calum's shoulder. "I'm sure we do, i brought cookies for on the road" Calum said showing Michael the bag. "Sharing is caring!" Michael said and they both laughed.

Now Calum could actually see how short he was comparred to everyone else here. Ashton was so tall and handsome and Michael was also tall and had hit puberty already, while Calum hasn't. Calum sighed and putted on his buckethead so that he didn't have sunlight hitting his eyes on the road.

"There you are!" Liz said as she saw Luke come their way. "Do you have your puffer?" Luke nodded. "Your medicines?" He nodded. "Enough water?" Luke nodded and rolled his eyes. "Don't roll your eyes at me Luke" Liz said strictly. "Sorry mom" Luke said quickly as his cheeks flushed a light red. You could tell he was a momma's boy easily.

"We are leaving in 2 minutes!" Ashton yelled. "Better get on that bus small boy" Ashton said playfully to Calum and poked his side. Calum blushed and nodded while getting on the bus. "Mikey! Come we're gonna claim the back!" Calum said to his friend who was drinking a can of energy. Michael couldn't respond verbally so he just nodded and gave Calum a thumbs up. "I told you not to drink that Mike!" Karen said to her son and snatched it away from him. "Mom!" Michael said. "No! You better not do any stupid things on that camp Mike or you'll be in big trouble!" Karen said raising her voice. "Calum you go claim them i'll be there in a second!" Michael yelled at his friend highly annoyed by his mom. "Anything else mom!?" Michael said sassy. Him and his mom were fighting the whole way in the car to here because Michael forgot his passport. Karen crossed her arms. "No" she said strictly and sighed "have fun" she said lowering her voice. Michael and his mom haven't been on good terms lately. Especially not since his father moved to Queenslands for work. Michael took his backpack and began walking towards the bus. He saw Luke pressing a kiss on Liz her cheek. He felt his heart stop for a second and looked down in guilt.

"One minute!" Ashton yelled.

Michael quickly turned around and ran to his mother. He planted a kiss on her cheek and said "i love you" before running to the bus. "Bye mom!" Michael yelled as he waved at her. Karen waved back and smiled widely. She hasn't been able to smile that often and her son cured that. A tear of joy slipped down her cheek knowing that everything will be okay.

Everyone got on the bus. Michael saw that Calum had claimed the back for them. Michael began running towards Calum. "Where yo cookies at!?" Michael asked and smiled. "Luke got them" Calum said as he looked at Luke. "Oh no it's you again" Michael said as he sternly looked at Luke. "Michael!" Calum said being very dissapointed in his friend. "Just share the cookies and be nice to each other please" Calum said with pleading eyes. "No! He needs to leave right no-"

"I'll leave" Luke said with red cheeks. He exhaled from his puffer and walked past Michael. "No Luke wait!" Calum said. "No I'll sit with Dennis or something" Luke said and made his way to the front of the bus. "Michael why did you do that?!" Calum said raising his voice. "He's taking you away from me!" Michael yelled. Then they all heard something hit the floor. It was Luke.. Calum widened his eyes. "Luke!" He said and got up.

"You're a chubby one" Alex, a guy out of a different class said. Him and his friends laughed. Luke's face became red. "You're though one" Alex heard a voice say behind him. "Leave him alone" Ashton said as he pulled Luke up. "Or else?" Alex said stepping further to Ashton. Ashton came closer to Alex and whispered something in his ear. Alex looked angry and sat down. Calum wondered what he said to him. Ashton decided to sit with Luke in the front.

Michael was being busy playing on his gameboy so Calum decided to listen to some music with his mp3-player he got as a gift fir christmas. He plugged in his earphones and started listening to Green Day. He then rested his head on Michael's shoulder and just drifted away into his own thoughts.

If this was only the beginning of camp, then there is a whole lot more to experience...
