"I met Ran early in my life" Sam said, grabbing a photo next to him. "Just before I went working as a peacekeeper, I was a hooligan."
"I would always go all over the world looking to fight anyone who looked at me funny." He said "Eventually, I reached Okinawa, where we met and I had a fight with his older brother, Ken. The fight lasted for days and we became friends after that."
"That's a weird way to gain friends" said May.
"In fact," continued Sam "I have a picture of us"
He showed an old picture of him and Ran. Both of them grinning. Both of them wearing a yukata, a Japanese garment. Sam was holding a katana while Ran was clutching a book. "I was 18 and he was 13 years old... He still grins when fighting." He said chuckling.
"Ran knew he wouldn't have to become the Boss, since Ken was going to become boss. He hated that thought. The guy wanted to go out into the world and live a peaceful life. He wanted, and don't tell his men about this, to be a missionary."
It took Elijah by surprise. A yakuza boss, wanting to become a missionary. Although it might be a good plot for a drama, Elijah never thought it might actually happen.
"One day, as he was training," Sam continued "He was told that his older brother was killed by a rival group; making him next in line as boss."
"He could've said no," he then added "but he knew there was no other way to save the people he considered as family."
"He then went on to master his craft, and along with his father, destroyed the rival yakuza. It is said that he battled 20 men alone every night for 30 days, with his sword 'Elijah'." He smiled as the video ended. "A religious man through and through."
The siblings sat there in disbelief as the video ended. Elijah was named by a religious yakuza boss.
"Wow" said Menea "that was a shocker."
"It's weird how there is a sword with your name on it." May added.
Elijah stayed silent. He didn't see it coming. A man to give up what he loved to do for the sake of every one he loved.
As Majella stiffled a yawn, Carlene announced everyone to sleep.
"We have a big day tomorrow, especially you Eli." Carlene said smiling "Everything will be okay, little bro."
Elijah wondered if it really will.
Two weeks has passed and Elijah has gotten the hang of using a sword. He learned all types of swords, not just katanas.
His siblings were on the Black Phoenix, learning more about the plane their dad and IV made. Most of the instructions were studied by both Carlene and Majella, including how to fly and repair the plane by replacing certain parts.
"It's like a giant Lego set, all of the parts are easily found, yet this thing is incredible." Carlene mused
Ran came in one day to check on it, and scoffed when he heard the name of the plane. "Black Phoenix..." he said "Your father's creativity for naming things is that of a 4 year old."
Everyday, he would spar with Ran one on one, and the yakuza boss would not hold back. Some of the men would watch and place bets, only to how long their young master would last.
This meant he would sleep painfully every night.
He would only get rest from the beating when a group from the Eye would arrive and attack Ran. But, he would defeat them with ease, interrogate, and let go.
"He's a weird one." Hiroto said to Elijah one day while Ran was fighting off 15 members of the Eye, alone in the courtyard."even if his enemies will not hesitate to kill him, he never kills and in fact lets them go. Most of the men admire him, yet always wonder why he wouldn't kill."
Elijah simply shrugged, since he knew his master's secret, however he always wondered why his father said not to tell Ran's men about it.
"Well that takes care of that." huffed Ran. He spoke to Hiroto in Japanese, he nodded, said goodbye to Elijah, and, with the help of the other members of the taketora faction, took the members of the Eye off to another area.
"Hiroto can handle interrogation for these ones." Ran said, wiping off his sweat "Right now, there is something we need to discuss."
"Yes, uncle Ran?" Gulped Elijah.
Ran laughed
"The look on your face. Don't worry, we won't be spar anymore. You don't need it. You already know the basics." said Ran.
"What do you mean?" said Elijah "I still don't think I can fight like you. I don't think we can survive alone."
"No, you are ready." said Ran enthusiastically "Now comes your true training."
He shouldered Elijah from the courtyard towards a different area of his compound.
As they draw nearer, Elijah started to sweat, but Ran just kept a grin.
"It's time to forge your own sword."
