The Six

Chapter 3

As they left their home, a lot of questions were in the siblings head. Who was “San”? Who are the other members of “The Six”? Why did their father send them to the five most dangerous people in the world?

All of these kept them thinking. Then, Carlene started to open the bag that their mother gave her. All of them, except Elijah who was enjoying in “driving”, watched as she took out all of the things inside the bag their mother left them.

Inside were all of their passports, some documents, and 6 CDs. Each CD was labeled in their name. One read “Open this first”, She opened it and put in on a DVD player near the cockpit. They saw on the screen their father sitting in front of a table that was in the Jet hangar where they have just left an hour ago.  

Their father looked a bit younger in the video. Sam normally had a buzz cut, a neatly trimmed beard, and wore shirts from bands from the 90’s. In the video however, he had a Mohawk, wore sunglasses, and a plain white shirt which showed his lean, muscular arms.

“Hello kids.” said video Dad “My name is Sam Penafiel, your future father. I will be married to your mother Jeanine tomorrow, and it’s one of the best things that will happen in my life” He blushed as he said the words. Carlene squealed in delight, while Menea and May blushed. “Before I forget, whoever is controlling the Black Phoenix, I believe Ivy will install an auto-pilot button in there. Try finding it so that he or she can listen. I don’t know how many kids I have, so just pause this video to look for it.”

As Elijah heard this he said, “So, this is the Black Phoenix. I wonder why it’s named this way?” “Will you think about that later!” said Majella.

They did what video Dad said and searched the button. Majella found the button below the screen and immediately the plane just few by itself. As Carlene played the video again, Sam immediately spoke. “Now that I have your attention, I would like to say sorry.” He said in a sad tone “If you are watching this it means something happened to me that I can’t bring you to ’the Six’ myself. But, I will do my best to guide you through anyway I can.”

“The reason why I’m letting you meet these people is because they will train you in protecting yourselves when you need it.” video Dad explained “They will willingly teach you as each of you will become very special to them. The 5 people you will meet are given Codenames to hide their real identity like me. Each of the names are based on our ranks. I was named ‘Six’. You will meet Juan, Deux, San, Ivy, and Lima. Respectively, they are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th.”

“Well, they made a unique way in naming people.” said May.

“Whatever they will teach you, follow them.” added video Dad “Deux and Lima’s methods are a bit crazy, yet you will find them useful. You will probably go to San first, since he is the nearest. I want you to take the CDs that has your name on it. When the time comes that you will meet your instructor, you will need to watch it.”

“There are rooms inside the plane that you can use.” video Dad pointed out “There’s a storage room and a special quarters for each of you at the back. However, they are probably empty, except for your rooms that I will place some comfortable clothes for you to wear. So restock supplies when you reach Japan. I’m sure San will help you with that.”

“Now,” video dad said as he took off his sunglasses “even though I may not know you yet. And your names are still a mystery to me, but I want you to know that no matter what happens to me I will always love you. Your mother will always be the most beautiful woman in my eyes and our children will always be my reminder. I better leave now, I have to prepare for tomorrow. Remember to learn from ‘the Six’.”

And with that, the video ended. They all sat there in silence. Menea tried to speak, but couldn’t because of the shock. Their father said those words like he wants to say something. They all knew there was something in the video. They re watched it again, but they saw nothing. After an hour of analyzing the video, they discovered nothing.

Then, Carlene, Menea, and May decided to change clothes. There were clothes in the rooms that had their names on it, just like video Dad said. There was 2 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, some underwear and socks, and running shoes. All of them fit perfectly.

As soon as they got back to the pilot area, where Elijah was teaching Majella the controls, they received transmission from the radio. “Come in Black Phoenix” said a man speaking in a British accent “Do you read me?”

“This is Black Phoenix” said Elijah “Loud and clear.” His sisters looked at him with awe. “What? I learned it from video games.” said Elijah. “This is Hiroto” said the man in the radio “my boss has told me to instruct you on your landing.” “Your boss?” said Elijah. “Ranmaru Taketora, the 15th boss of the Taketora yakuza syndicate.” replied Hiroto.
