The bell above the door rung as I walked into the Pizza Parlor.
I waved Pete and Ashley who were behind the counter when I walked in."Who am I waitressing with today?" I ask Pete, whilst I tie my apron around my waist. "Bethany, Lula, and Madie" He answers, looking at the schedule. I nod and head out to my section. I pull my notepad out of my apron and approach my first table.
I look up and realize who is sitting in the booth. The only people in the school who probaly know I exist. The reasoning to that is because they make fun of me. Constantly.
"Oh look, Little Miss Goody Goody works at the pizza place. Why don't you get us all a pitcher of coke? Oh and how's you eye? " Melody, one of the popular girls in school taunts me.
I lower my head and walk to the kitchen. I grab a pitcher and fill it with coke. I walk back out onto the floor. While walking back to the table, I notice everyone who is sitting there, including the one person who has been consuming my entire mind, Carter. He doesn't even look sorry for what he did. He's just sitting with his arms around the booth and a cigarette in his mouth.
I reach their table, trying to ignore all the snickers and eyes on my every move. "Is it true you got drunk Friday and made out with someone?" Iris Parker asks me, a wicked smile on her face. My eyes flicker to Carter but he is focused on his straw wrapper. I now notice his arm around Melody. Of course they're dating, they are both selfish picks. I nod my head and turn to leave, giving them time to pick their order.
"Who was it?" Iris continues when I come back to the table. Now Carter's eyes are on mine. My mouth speaks before my brain can realize what I'm saying.
"Why don't you ask someone at your table? And Carter, you can't smoke in here. Go outside" I bite. My mouth snap shuts and I walk away, not even getting their order.
I notice everyone look at each other, expecting someone to answer. Carter looks with a deadly glare.I return to their table five minutes, considering I still have to take care of their table. "What can I get y'all to eat?" I ask with my nicest voice. They all glance up at me. Melody starts to speak, "We'll get a large pepperoni."
I nod and head to our cook Louis. "Louis, large pepperoni!" I yell through the window.
"Here you go Miss.Johnson" Louis says, putting the pizza on the ledge. I smile and thank him. I watch the table as I walk over to them. They watch me before whispering and laughing to each other. My eyes flicker to Carter, he is already staring at me. I feel myself get red with anger as he continues to stare. I get to distracted and I trip over my own feet. I fall to the floor, on top of the pizza. fucking great. just great.
"I think you got something on your clothes" Melody and Iris snicker at me. I can feel the tears threatening to spill. I stand up, leaving the pizza and rush to the bathroom. I cry as I try to get the sauce stains out of my white shirt and apron. After many failed attempts, I look into the mirror. Tears stain my cheecks and my face is burning red, I cannot go back out there, not after this. Hopefully Pete will let me leave early. All of this, ontop of a black eye, I've gotta to leave early.
I walk out of the bathroom but my arm is yanked into the hallway away from the customers. I pull my wrist away and turn to whoever put their hands on me. I swear to god I'm going to scream.
Carter Fucking Riley. Of course."I've had enough from you guys tonight. Just leave me alone. Or do you want to give me another black eye?" I sneer, and he seems shocked at my attitude. He steps closer, putting his hands in his pockets. "I'm sorry for what they did. For what I did." He speaks softly.
What? I couldn't of heard that correctly."Did Carter Riley just fucking apologize to me? Very funny, go back to Melody. How about you tell her we kissed? You two are dating, right? How about you stop hitting innocent people and stop smoking. You're seventeen for christs sake" I said, raising my voice a little too much. "What the fuck did I do? Why would I tell her we kissed? We were both drunk, I'm really suprised you remember that. We both know I didn't mean to hit you."
