Emma
Believe it or not nobody ever finds out. We make it through the next two months without anyone at the school the wiser. I never did join his track team and we started running in the mornings again to be on the safe side. It was pretty risky, running after school anyway. I guess if we were going to get caught that would have been when it happened.
All the students I tutored for the ACT and SAT got great scores on their tests. I found out that Mom had set aside large chunks of Dad's insurance money to pay for our college and she said I could have my share since I got scholarships to get into school. I might use some of it to pay for housing and food while I'm in college, but I'm going to try to save as much as I can.
Mom had a beautiful June wedding to Carl. The boys are ecstatic and I'm happy that someone will be there to take care of her and the boys. Since I'm moving out Jeremy is getting my room and the first thing that went was the lavender walls. He wanted to paint them black, but Mom put her foot down and now they're a dark navy blue. It was a compromise. I sold all of my furniture on Craig's List. I got just enough money for a ticket to London.
I look out the window of the plane. My stomach is uneasy. I have the same feeling I got when I was waiting for the Goliath to start at Six Flags. I halfheartedly watch the flight attendant go over the instructions and guidelines before the flight. The engines start up; I can feel them vibrating through my entire body. I grip the arm rest and close my eyes tightly. Why is this plane so small? They make them look so big on T.V. but they're not. They're no bigger than a bus. Henry takes my hand in his. "It's okay, baby, I'm right here."
Caleb turns around in his seat and looks at us. "Emma, do you need a barf bag? Because, I got one right here. I thought I needed it, but I don't think so anymore."
Piper who's sitting beside him turns around and hands me a piece of gum. "Here chew this. It will help with the pressure, but if you feel like you're going to be sick I would wait for that to be over first." She takes a piece and sticks it in her mouth and then hands one to Caleb.
Henry takes my hand while he puts his other hand on my leg. "Remember, this flight is only an hour. It will be over before you know it. Once we get to Atlanta that flight will be smoother and longer. I'll give you something that will help you sleep."
"Are your parents already there?"
"They made it to London yesterday. They're getting the house ready for us to get there."
"I'm really glad you guys are coming."
"Are you kidding? My parents said they loved the first time they took us to London. Bringing you and Caleb this time is like living that all over. They said they're going to have to take you two to all of their favorite places just so they can relive it."
I close my eyes and lean my head back and take deep breaths. When I feel the plane moving I stop breathing. Henry leans over and kisses me. I open my mouth and he slides his tongue in. The familiar feelings rush over me and I forget all about my fears. Once the plane is in the air and we're gliding smoothly Henry sits back and smiles. I pop the gum in my mouth and look out the window at the city below.
