Picture this:
An auction house with sparkling chandeliers hanging on the ceilings, red velvet carpeting covering the shiny marble floor, and a Greek style being incorporated in the overall design. Ultimately fancy interior is equal to the elite.
In this case, they are also known as South Korea's richest.
Only they aren't here to buy the usual things you'd find at your typical auction: precious jewels, old paintings, or sometimes even ancient artifacts that can serve as a good decoration in homes.
They're here to buy people.
Specifically, people who are good at satisfying certain needs.
Amongst them—the 'carefully selected few'—was Choi Seungcheol. He was the third to be presented after the seemingly innocent Lee Chan and the ethereal-looking Yoon Jeonghan.
To say that he was nervous would be an understatement. He had been preparing for the event for over half a year now so he was definitely ready, but seeing that it was actually happening right at this moment was another matter altogether.
He felt scared.
What if no one was willing to take him?
In truth, as confident as he may seem on the outside, his self-esteem was dropping lower and lower by the minute. He didn't think he had any strong advantages.
For example, Chan's advantage was the youthful aura he gave off. He was like a child whose mind and heart were rid of anything sinful.
On the other hand, Jeonghan's advantage was his beauty. It was as if he was a person of fiction, someone nearly perfect.
Seungcheol was more on personality. He was a very flexible and obedient boy. But in terms of first impressions, especially on the physical attractiveness, he didn't think he would get anywhere.
He begins to chew on his bottom lip when the auction had finally started. Jeonghan was up first.
Like a diamond, he shined beautifully on that small stage. The bright lights on him make his unblemished skin glow, giving him the appearance of an angel.
His introduction by the host hadn't even finished when majority of the signs were quickly raised up. In awe, Seungcheol tried to keep his mouth from falling open. There was no way he'd get a response like this.
Then the numbers came, going higher and higher and higher until the final price was laid down—an outrageous price no one else in the audience could beat. It was amazing how much someone would be willing to pay to have a person like Jeonghan.
With grace in every step, he goes down the stage to approach a handsome man in a dark red velvet suit, taking a seat on his lap as he was kindly told to do.
Kim Mingyu was his name, a twenty-five year-old who has rightfully earned his place as one of the most well-known people in the world of business. It seemed to be the perfect pairing.
Next to go up was Chan. He doesn't get the signs raised as fast, but he did get a lot of them.
Innocence never hurt anyone.
In fact, it can be entertaining and something that can be pushed to its limits.
Once again, the numbers come by the dozens until it was eventually settled. With a bright smile, Chan gracefully walks off the stage to be taken by Wen Junhui, an attractive Chinese male who turns out to be Mingyu's main competition. (But the two of them have a good relationship, so rivalry was nonexistent.)
