Jihoon was glad about the season of summer finally being over. Aside from the searing heat and sheets soaked with sweat, he was happy to get away from the hang-outs his friends often dragged him into whenever they found that he didn't have any plans of leaving home.
In between the summer and the upcoming autumn was a short period of gloomy days. It something he would like to call a 'mini season of rain'. For him this was basically a saving grace from the torture of the bright sun and he was really all for it. He could use a bit of a break.
The rain drops went pitter pat against the window, the air chilly and the sky gray. It was the most perfect weather, especially on a weekend. Jihoon couldn't even remember the last time he felt this peaceful in his own apartment.
He was currently reading a novel he'd been meaning to finish for the past two weeks when a whine makes him avert his attention from the small black letters displayed on the thin pages.
His hybrid sits on floor right in front of him with his legs crossed, his chin resting on the almost non-existent gap in between the male's knees as the bottom half of his cherry red lips jutted out in the form of a pout.
Jihoon raises an eyebrow and places in the bookmark, closing the novel. He expected a proper statement of reason but instead getting a whimper and a head tilt, the cheek of the other now squished against the spot above his kneecap whilst his peach-colored cat ears were perked up.
"What do you want, Seungcheol?"
The question came out in a tone much meaner than intended, causing those feline ears to go down and Seungcheol to lift his head, a hint of fear poking at him to do so.
Jihoon sighed upon realizing his mistake and reached over to pet him by gingerly running his fingers through those auburn locks. He receives a delighted purr in response and the corners of his mouth turn upward just a bit.
Seungcheol was actually a gift from one of his closest friends, Jisoo, who brought him all the way from his vacation in the States about half a year ago. Apparently, he was trying to 'cause a stir in the latest local trends' (whatever that means).
Jihoon didn't understand what all this was about, really, but he was getting used to it. He thought that Jisoo was playing some sort of weird joke when he randomly showed up at his door holding a 5'10" guy on a fine leather leash and a matching collar with a stupidly goofy grin on his face.
Seungcheol undoubtedly towered over both of them yet he had the innocence and personality of a 5 year-old kid, which Jisoo claimed to be the main reason as to why he wanted to bring him back to Korea so badly.
"So what drove you to buy this–this—this thing is that he's somehow part feline?!"
"He's got a name, Jihoon!" Jisoo interjected with a roll of his eyes. "It was originally 'Aidan' but I decided to change it to 'Seungcheol' after getting his papers. I named him after one of my favorite rap artists! Pretty cool, right? It suits him!"
"More like pretty damn crazy!" Jihoon griped, throwing his hands in the air. "Does he even talk?!"
"He does talk! He isn't some lifeless toy! He speaks both Korean and English!" The other male huffs before turning to look up at Seungcheol with the sweetest smile he could muster.
"Sweetheart, won't you say hello to this hyung?"
"Hello!" Seungcheol greets in Korean cheerfully with a polite nod of his head, his smile showing off two dimples. Jihoon could have sworn his jaw hit the floor.
Jisoo then proceeds to hand him a large brown envelope that contained Seungcheol's documents and wished that he'd enjoy the 'present' before heading off. (The younger hoped he'd crash into something along the way.)
Ironically, now Jihoon and Seungcheol were cuddling in bed.
Previously the light rain turning into a storm with thunder so terrifying had the hybrid scrambling to get onto his owner's lap, attempting to get as close as possible. Since he was much bigger, Jihoon knew that whatever he was doing wasn't going to help either of them so he suggested that they go to the bedroom instead where it would be more comfortable.
It seemed to calm Seungcheol down when they were settled but he still clung tightly, burying his face into the crook of Jihoon's neck as their legs (and Seungcheol's furry tail) became tangled together.
They never did this in the summer since it was too hot. Other times, Jihoon was pretty occupied with work, so cuddle sessions with both of them awake or about to drift to sleep don't happen as often as the hybrid would like. It gave him one reason to look forward to rainy days and Jihoon another.
