They were having their own little 'camping trip' in Jihoon's backyard, being allowed by the parents to sleep in an actual tent until morning.
The two small boys were sitting on the grass, observing and pointing at the tiny white dots that were scattered all over the night sky.
"Seungcheol-ah, do you know what my dream is?"
"What?"
"To explore the galaxy one day!"
Seungcheol notices how Jihoon's eyes shined with hope while he spoke. He knew of his best friend's love for outer space. There was something about it that was so fascinating. It was probably the fact that there was still much to discover out there, far far away.
"You never tell me about your dream though. Now it's your turn."
Thankfully the backyard light was dim enough to hide Seungcheol's reddening face. Being too shy, he felt that that if his dream wasn't as big or as grand, he'd me made fun of.
"Come on! It's not fair! Please, Seungcheol!" Jihoon was whining now, repeatedly nudging his shoulder until he gave in.
"Okay, okay. Just—don't tell anyone else."
"Secretive, huh? Then it must be some dream. Okay, I promise!"
"...You won't laugh?"
His best friend sighs, twisting his body to face him so that he would get that he was being serious. "I won't. It means a lot to you, doesn't it? Why would I laugh at something like that?"
Seungcheol then takes in a deep breath. With enough courage, he takes Jihoon's wrist, ignoring the confused expression shown to him, and interlocks their pinky fingers.
"My dream..." He starts out softly.
"...is for us to be together for a very long time."
Jihoon just looked at him blankly. It made Seungcheol go into internal panic. A million thoughts of negativity ran through his head until they were interrupted by words almost incoherent.
"I like that."
"Y-yeah?"
The other smiled softly. "Yeah."
