The next day I returned home. The house felt so empty. I felt so alone. I tried turning on the stero, having some music in the background might make it better. But no. Next I tried the television. Again, it didn’t help. Nothing made the lonlieness and guilt go away. Why did my brother have to do that? He never cared about me. All his did was abuse of me.
I decided to go pick up my puppies from the dog center. It had been a couple of days now and I wanted them back. I hopped into my car and drove. I didn’t want to return home anytime soon, it was too lonely there. Too quiet. I pulled up to the puppy center and walked in.
“Good day, how may I assist you” the attendent said.
“I dropped off some puppies here a couple of days ago, I would like them back” I said
“Alright can I have your papers?”
“Sure” I took out the ID’s from my purse and gave them to her.
“These dogs still havent finished all their courses.” she informed me
“I know, I just need them back, please” I insisted.
“Alright, give me a moment” She went to the back to retrieve my puppies. I looked around the room and noticed no one was there. Solitutde no matter where I went. I took a deep breath and looked down. I needed company. Quickly. Suddenly, I heard the familiar barking of my babies.
“Hi there!” I said in a baby voice, as my puppies ran to me. “I missed youu!” I said. I took the three leashes from the lady, paid her and left.
They puppies were running all over the back seat of the car but I didn’t mind. A smile was on my face the whole time. Finally, we got home and I took them upstairs into the puppy room. I went back downstairs into the kitchen and just sat there. The quiet was back, filling my ears like poison.
The phone rang, I jumped to the sudden noise. I quickly rushed over to it.
“Hello?” I said.
“Hey, it’s me Ben” Ben said.
“Oh, hey. Whats up?” I said.
“Nothing, just checking up on you. Danny’s orders, How’s everything going over there?” He asked. It was amazing how Danny was in the hospital but he still made sure I was okay. I love him.
“Lonely.” I answered.
“I bet, don’t worry. Danny will soon be out.” ben said
“I know.”
“Well, I gatta go. Just wanted to see if you were okay.”
“Thanks, bye”
“see ya.”
The line cut. I stood there, just listening to the eternal ring. I felt even more alone now. I bit my lip and started to think. Who can I invite? Who can make this lonliness fade away? I need a friend. I quickly dialed Silvers number.
One ring.
What if she doesn’t answer?
Two rings.
What will I do then?
Three rings
I don’t want to be alone
Four rings
“hello” I felt relieved to hear her familiar voice.
“Hey!” I said. My voice cracked a little
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. Hey, do you wanna come over? Its been a while” I bit my lip. Please say yes, please say yes.
