Chapter 5 The Tale Of The Rogue

"So what's with this rogue, Justin, guy? Did he spill anything while you were in there Cody?"

"Sadly no, Fetch. But one good thing came out of it."

"Did you beat your high score at the game I leant you?"

"Better than that Eugene!"

"Did you paint a giant camel on the billboard above the TV shop?"

"Nope! Not even close Del."

"Guys! Shut up. So Cody, where is she then?"

"I introduce Li... I mean Elizabeta." Liz had clearly cleaned herself up. She had combed her hair into long, luscious strands of blonde and had used the money I gave to her to buy a stunning dress.

"Nice to meet all of you. Cody told me so much about you three. A shame my brother, Jacob, couldn't make it. He's still weak but he's getting better."

"Elizabeta, do you know who the rogue is and what his deal is?"

"Unfortunately, I do. He and my brother were best friends before the D.U.P arrived. When they did, they kidnapped the rogue and tried experiments on him and turned him into a sort of robot-zombie slave thing. He was sold to a group of Conduit-Haters and they sent him out to capture and enslave other conduits. Jacob recognised him and refused to fight him, so the rogue just smashed his head against a wall and took him back, but we stopped him thanks to Cody here!" She gave him a hug and whispered "Thanks Cody" Blood rushed to his cheeks as they turned rosy red.

"Looks like someone's got a crush." Fetch gave Delsin the "Shut your face before I shut it for you" look. Del looked at the ground and said nothing for the rest of the meet.

"The sun is setting and us two have to check on Jacob. See you guys. Nice to meet all of you." Everyone began the long walk home because of the new rule of no powers after seven o'clock except in emergencies.

"I never did get to thank you for what you did. You know, setting me and my grandpa free."

"Where did he go anyway?"

"He ended up stumbling to my grandma's house before nightfall." Just then, he saw plants crawling out of the windowsill of their apartment.

"Liz, look!" He pointed to the plants and the expression on her face changed.

"Jacob is in trouble!" They both ran to the door and unlocked it. Plants and vines where climbing all around the apartment. Cody burned through the plants blocking the door to the bedroom. Jacob was still lying on the bed, sleeping.

"He must have had another nightmare and accidentally used his powers."

"I'm so sorry about your apartment Cody! My brother doesn't usually do things like this!"

"It's ok Liz. Its neither yours or his fault. It was an accident like when you wet the bed when your younger. Its not your fault, you didn't wet the bed on purpose! Its just your body growing up!" For the rest of the evening, Cody burned away all the plants while Liz looked after her brother.

"Liz, you two can sleep in my bed for tonight."

"But what about you!"

"I'll just sleep on the couch. Its okay, I sorta like it."

"You're the nicest guy I've ever met!"

"Thanks! And your the nicest girl I've ever met." They both went to their beds and had a good, long sleep.
