What the hell is wrong with me?? When I heard Tyler call Marissa, I knew I would finally have to see the person I was avoiding.
I tried so hard to stay out of their conversation, so as not to say anything to hurt her. Just like I have done the whole week.
After the last time, I left her in the rain, I didn't want me putting her into trouble anymore.
But then she left her pizza and I rushed it to her. I meant to go back and just wait until she was out of sight and then I found my legs following her.
And then I ask her the most stupid thing
"Are you comfortable around me? "I don't know what possessed me to do that.
But after asking that I wanted an answer. I needed an answer. I just wanted to know if she was comfortable with me.
I know we fought in every conversation we had, but I was always comfortable around her. Awkward ,yes maybe, but not uncomfortable.
I looked at her, and I know she wasn't expecting that. I can see her thinking of what to say and so I just tell her to forget about it.
A few seconds pass and then she asks me, what I hoped she wouldn't.
"Where were you this week? "
I can tell she just wants the awkward silence to pass but now am tensed. I can't tell her I was avoiding her. No way.
"What do you mean, I have been at school ofcourse"
"Am asking because I haven't seen you around school. You are lying to me."
She says and I can see a small smile on her lips.
"What? Of course not. Why would I do that? "
She looks at me fully smiling ,as if she knows what I have been doing.
"Don't know Jaden. Maybe you have been avoiding me. "
What's wrong with this girl? Is she reading my mind?
"Oh my. Seriously Jaden? Why on earth would you avoid me. I mean, I did but then you are you, you don't worry about anything. "
"What? "I ask puzzled.
"You don't worry about anything."She points out.
"No,i mean what do you mean, you avoided me?"
Marissa just looks at me like she hadn't meant for me to hear that. At that point I notice we are already home.
"Nothing "she says looking at me "it's nothing. Okay, goodnight Jaden. "
She says as she goes towards their door.
"No, wait"
I find myself saying and she turns around .
"Am sorry. "
"For what? Avoiding me? "she asks smiling.
This girl!!
"No, am sorry for that night in the rain. "
"It's okay Jaden. Don't worry about it. "
"No, it's not okay. I shouldn't have done that. Am really sorry for that day. "
"Okay, I forgive you. "She says smiling.
"Soo...if I invited you somewhere you would come. "
"It depends.. "she says
"On what? "
" On where you are inviting me. "
"Am inviting you to a party. "
"Jaden, I don't go to parties ."
"It's my birthday party. "
I wait looking at her because I really just want her to come.
"When? "
She asks and I don't know why am smiling like an idiot.
"Saturday. "
