Better Together (COMPLETE)

I have been stressing about this day for one whole week and it's finally here.

Normally, I would be happy I get to relax from school but not today. Since I woke up, the stress has doubled up in regards to Jaden's birthday.

What should I wear?

Who will be there?

Will I be a bad person if I cancel now?

My mind was filled with these thoughts.One thing I was sure of, is being friends with Jaden was going to be a good thing for me and all our friends.

This past week was real good, no arguing between us,talking during lunch with him and no time in this week did I feel like I wanted to run him over with my car.He extended an olive branch when he apologized and invited me to his birthday and I would be a fool not to take it.

Now the most important question was what to wear. But it's not like I want to impress anyone so it doesn't matter.
But there was that voice in my head saying it does matter .A lot.

I didn't even have a gift for Jaden but I didn't think he would mind. We were just starting to be friends.

I could already hear music from Kyle's place and see cars outside their house and people from school heading in.

I decided to wear a yellow dress which was just above my knees and some black high heels. After all, it was just next door, it's not as if I would be walking for long. I put on some makeup and finally left the house and headed to Kyle's.

I entered their front door and the whole place was packed.I never felt comfortable in such situations and as usual I was already looking for a way out from all these people. I looked towards the stairs to Kyle's room and as I was just about to take a step

"Trying to escape? "

I heard behind me and immediately knew who it was. I turned around and saw Jaden smiling.

He looked good .Handsome good. So good that I wouldn't mind... Okay, backup!What am I thinking?

It's that stupid smile he has on. We have gotten so used to being angry at each other, it's like am seeing him in a different light now. Is that good or bad?

"Not going to wish the birthday boy happy birthday before you disappear?"He asked his smile widening.

"Well, I haven't seen the birthday boy anywhere, have you?"I asked smiling.

He smirked looking me straight in the eyes and said,
"How do you know the birthday boy anyway ?"

"I don't. I just live next door and thought I should socialize. Instead of enjoying the party from my room."

He chuckled and we just stared at each other in a comfortable silence.

"Thanks for coming."

"Of course.I had to. Kyle would have killed me if I didn't." I said,both of us smiling at each other.

I walked a bit closer to him and gave him a hug. Let me just say, it was the most awkward hug I have ever given anyone. I heard his sharp intake of breath and stepped back a bit.

"Happy Birthday." I said. Now a few steps back from where he was.

"Thanks. "He said clearing his throat.
"So where is my birthday gift?"

I laughed slightly "Were you expecting a gift?"

"What do you mean was I expecting a gift? "He said chuckling "it's my birthday."

"Okay." I said smiling, "what do you want for your birthday?"

"If I told you what I want I think you would run away."

"Try me Jaden. Nothing scares me. Am not the running away type. "

Jaden just looked at me with a look I could not decipher and I was just wondering what he meant by that.

"M,how's my favorite best friend and the most gorgeous girl doing?"

I looked behind me and saw Tyler with a drink in his hand looking way too drunk.

"Come on give your man a hug."

I chuckled giving him a hug which I think lasted way too long.
"So is Jaden treating you well? just tell me and I will sort him out for you."Tyler said holding me close to him.

I looked at Jaden and he just rolled his eyes.
"Come on M, let's get you a something good to drink."Tyler said slurring his words.

"She doesn't drink."
I heard Jaden say and we both turned to face him.

"Are you talking about me?"
He just rolled his eyes."Who else princess?"

"I do drink." I said smiling

Jaden walked slowly towards me, leaned and whispered into my ear.

"I know what I want for my birthday."

I just kept silent and waited for him to continue" Join us in playing a game of truth or dare."

"What?"I whispered back

"And choose dare the whole time."

"Why? "

" Please for me.As my birthday gift. "

My stomach was doing all sorts of weird things and my heart beating a little way too fast and I didn't like that.

Then as if nothing had happened he just smiled and walked off.

I turned to face Tyler and he had a stupid smile on his face.

"What?"I asked narrowing my eyes at him.
"You are so cute when you blush."He said chuckling.

"Shut up Tyler. Am not blushing. "

"I think he's finally getting some courage."

"What are you talking about? "

"Nothing. Come on M, let's go paaaarty "

Tyler shouted leaving me with more questions of what was going on and something told me I would be having more of those during
this night.
