Kestik didn't leave his room for days. I knocked and left food for him. Sometimes he ate, other times he didn't. He instructed Lang not to let me go with him on errands. I was so lonely. Sometimes I would hide in the back of the library and just cry. I started to doubt if that life was even worth living anymore. I wiped my eyes and went to put away books that Kestik had finished reading. As I sorted them to make them easier to put away I found two books that surprised me. Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella.
"Why did he read these...?" He must like them, they are in his library after all. As I went down the row to put them away a sudden pulse of excruciating pain ran through my body. I cried out and dropped to the floor, the books falling everywhere. I grasped at my chest as the burning pain intensified.
I groaned and opened my eyes but I was not in the library. I was outside, and it was night. I laid still and looked up at the stars, but something was odd. They were disappearing one by one. I sat up, feeling no pain. I was outside the house, but it looked different. I heard footsteps to my left and turned to see what it was.
"Kestik?" I squinted my eyes and walked closer to the figure. It looked like him but it was a child. The boy looked up at the sky as the stars died one by one. He cupped his hands before him and a small red light appeared in his hands. I hurried closer. "Kestik?" He didn't respond.
"You've summoned me. I assume that means you've made a decision." The red light grew brighter as the voice spoke.
"A demon?" I covered my mouth with my hands in shock.
"Yes. I have decided to accept." The boy said softly.
"And you still remember the price you will pay?"
"Yes."
"The deal is done." The light circled him a few times before growing and consuming his small body.
"Kestik! Stop!" Nothing happened as I ran over, crying out for him to stop. The boy fell to his knees screaming in pain. "Kestik!" I screamed his name as loud as I could but everything went black.
"(y/n)...please (y/n)..." My eyes once again opened slowly. I saw Lang's face above me, his eyes red, swollen, and wet. "You're okay?" I cringed in pain as I sat up.
"Yes, I'm okay Lang." I smiled to him. "Will you help me stand, please?"
"Are you sure that's okay?" He was worried about me.
"Yes Lang, I am sure." I nodded and slowly stood up.
"How about I get you something to eat and drink?"
"That would be nice, thank you." He made sure I was sitting up on the couch before leaving. I didn't want to sit though. I had to know. I slowly made my way out of the library and turned left. I continued straight until I was right outside his door. I pressed my ear against it but didn't hear anything. I quietly knocked a few times but no response. I was terribly frightened but I needed to know. I tried the doorknob and it was unlocked. I slowly pushed the door open. I stared in awe as I stepped inside. All of the walls were glass and twinkling stars shone everywhere outside. There was a regal looking bed, some matching shelves and desks and a few chairs but that was it. I stepped farther into the room as if in a trance. I approached one of the glass walls and pressed my hand against it. I watched the stars' lights flicker. I looked down to the right and saw the moon. It was giving off the most magical glow.
"What are you doing in here?" I spun around, pressing myself against the glass.
"K-Kestik...I-I didn't mean...I..." He sighed and put his hand up to stop me. "Kestik your hair..." A lock of his beautiful golden hair had turned black as coal. He turned and went to sit in one of the chairs. He hung his head, resting his arms on his legs.
