"Your trials over," Haymitch says. "Come on. We're going home."

Home? What's he talking about? my homes gone. Even if such a place exists, I'm too weak to move. Strangers appear. Rehydrate and feed me. Bathe and clothe me. One lifts me up like a doll and arrives me to the roof, onto a hovercraft, and fastens me into a seat. Haymitch and Plutarch sit across from me.

"You must have a million questions!" says a positively glowing Plutarch. When I don't respond, he answers them anyway.

After I shot Coin, there was pandemonium. They later discovered Snow's body, still tethered to the post. Opinions differ on whether he choked to death while laughing or was crushed by he crowd. No one really cares. An emergency election was held. Paylor is the president. Plutarch was appointed secretary of communications. which means he sets the programming for the airwaves. The first big televised event was my trial, in which he was also a star witness. In my defense, of course. one condition for my release is that I'll continue under Dr. Aurelius's care. although it will have to be by phone because he'd never live in a forsaken place like 12, and I'm confined there until further notice. No one really knows what to do with me now that the war's over. Plutarch jokes that they could find a role if another were to spring up. He has a good laugh. It never seems to bother him when no one else appreciates his jokes.

We drop Plutarch off in 3 to meet with Beetee and when we are back in he air, I look at Haymitch. "So why are you going back to Twelve?"

"They can't seem to find a place for me in the Capitol either," he says.

At first, I don't question this, but doubts begin to creep in. He hasn't assassinated anyone. He could go anywhere. Then it hits me. "You have to look after me, don't you? As my mentor?' He shrugs. It takes me a second, but then I realize what it means. "My mother's not coming back."
