Alex's POV:

I was woken up by the sound of persistent knocking on my front door. Definitely not in the mood to speak to anyone, I rolled over and burrowed into the covers hoping the sound would cease. It didn't.

Five minutes later I'd given in and was lethargically wandering downstairs, dressed in the same shorts and white t-shirt I'd been wearing for the past few days.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little scared to see who was at the door. Although life felt pretty meaningless to me at that point, I still didn't favour the idea of a lecture from my friends or bosses about the job I now didn't give a shit about.

Into the hallway I went, barely even picking up my own feet. Hesitantly, I turned on the screen by my door to reveal who was outside. To my surprise, it wasn't one of my mates or someone sporting a Liverpool crest; it was in fact Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Jade.

I was a little surprised. I hadn't spoken to them since we'd texted a few days ago and I wasn't really overjoyed to see them standing outside my door. The last thing I needed was three reminders of my beloved ex.

I span on my heel and began to walk back upstairs, when something caught my eye. A photo Perrie had put on my wall.

"To remind you of how incredibly successful I am." She giggled.

It was from their first Brit award win. They were all there - happy and excited, together. They'd been there for each other.

I sighed and turned back around. My brain was screaming at me not to do exactly what my hands were doing. DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR repeatedly bounced around my brain as my fingers clunkily turned the key and pulled the handle.

"Oh my god Alex, finally! It's not like we've been waiting outside for ten minutes or anything!" Jesy complained, whilst the others seemed a little shocked that I'd even let them in.

I simply said nothing as they entered my house.

"God, Alex. You look awful." Jesy continued.

"Cheers." I smiled wryly.

"How've you been?" Leigh-Anne asked, trying to deflect away from Jesy's lack of tact.

"Well my girlfriend of three years just dumped me by text so I'm actually doing great, thanks for asking." I snapped back.

It went quiet.

"I'm so sorry Alex." Jade mumbled.

"Yeah, well we all are." I hissed. They didn't speak. "Sorry." I added. It wasn't their fault.

There was a humidity of awkwardness. It seemed to linger without anyone really attempting to end it.

"You really loved her, didn't you?" Jesy finally spoke.

I didn't answer at first. How was I supposed to answer that? Of course I did. "Well it doesn't matter now does it?" I sighed. "Can we talk about something else please?"

"Yeah, like sorting you out probably." Leigh-Anne replied.

I looked at her questionably.
