Chapter 15: Biolab 12

Bogdan woke up early , ignoring Kath that was probably gonna have a nightmare in his absence. He took his thermos out and started drinking all the coffee. He then gone to meet the generals and obtain rations. He stopped first at the cafeteria and then returned to the tent . Kath slowly woke up.

Bogdan: Morning.

Kath: Morning, I ... had a nightmare again.

Bogdan: How do you get them so fast ?

Kath: I don't know , I hate to be alone.

Bogdan: What a coincidence.

He sits next to her putting his hand on her shoulder.

Bogdan: Here , we haven't ate anything in a while. By that o mean 7 or 8 days, I am hungry , that's for sure.

Kath: Thanks, *sigh* so, what did he said about your mother ?

Bogdan: She didn't even wanted to see me when she came back after the war. It was the woman at the terrace , remember.

Kath: SHE ?! *sigh* Only my mother knew what to discuss with that woman. She was a scientist as well, not my mother , your mother but, *sigh* my mother is dead . What can we do about that.

Bogdan: We don't know the truth yet.

Kath: What do you mean ?

Bogdan: If my mother survived yours too. Istrati once told me that your mother always makes room for everyone. He betrayed us but somehow I am still alive... Isn't that supposed to lead somewhere ?

Kath: Do you really think ?

Bogdan: Yes , we can trust nobody , so we have to find out. We have a mission , and we will complete it , but only to find your mother ... Anything else is not important , then we will travel to Moscow.

Kath: *hugs Bogdan*

Bogdan: Come on, we are wasting time.

They quickly got the debrief from the generals and joined Alexei that was waiting for them at the exit of the compound .

Alexei: Look who isn't Rambo anymore , have took antiderapant pills , team leader ?

Bogdan: Hehe, old friend , these are the jokes of a German.

Alexei: Fine, let's move , the biolabs must be 10 kilometers from here .  They say it must be Biolab 12.

Kath: Wait , Biolab 12 ? That is in Brasília , that is where I come from . I remember like it was yesterday .

Bogdan: Don't trust anyone... Now you have proof. Let's go!

A truck left them near the biolab, it was crowded by mutants.

Bogdan: Hold fire, Alexei, flare , now !

Alexei lightened up a flare and threw it so they can get in the biolab.

Bogdan: Remember , take all the paperwork and valuable stuff then put the charges on the generator. We will send the place to hell.

Kath: But, why ?

Bogdan: Intel shows that most of the bombs used in the war were made here, in the labs.

Kath: I am not killing anyone.

Bogdan: Then I will.

They entered the biolab and started looking thru the scientists, one of them came in front of him.

Scientist : What do you desire ?

Bogdan: I desire to bring me the paperwork and...

Scientist : Kathleen !!!

Kath: Hey, Johnny .

Scientist : I thought you were dead.

Bogdan (points the gun to his head): Well you thought wrong , now bring me my stuff and...

He thinks a little and then grabs his collar.

Bogdan: Listen to me , motherfucker , I know her mother isn't dead , WHERE IS SHE ?

Kath: Bogdan.

Scientist: Ok , ok, is in Russia , I swear , please.

Kath: Johnny , you lied to me ?

Scientist : I'm sorry , you were supposed to...

Bogdan: Hold on, there is something not right , few days ago , when I met you, we received a message that a care package was in Brasília.

Alexei: Oh, I forgot to tell you, it actually stopped in Russia , forget it.

Kath: Johnny...

Scientist: BRING THOSE DAMN PAPERS !!!

Kath pointed the gun barrel to his head and killed him.

Kath: We had to anyways, and I wouldn't have left anyone else do it.

Bogdan and Alexei started to shoot the scientists as soon as one of them came with the papers. Kath was looking at the horrible view and she asked  herself  " Was Bogdan right ? Is this a fighting for survival or a punishment for their past.

Bogdan: Kath !!!

Kath: What ?

Bogdan: We must GET OUT, ALEXEI PLANTED THE CHARGES !!!

They took the paperwork and ran . There was nothing in there when they came , there is nothing there now.

Kath (curious): So , what do we have here ?

Bogdan: Let's start from the beginning, aha , here , Reason of EPL-102 : EPL-102 is an anthropomorphic life form created genetically from a human and a cat. At the request of  "The Animal Fanatics" they were created not only for scientific reasons but for human evolution. They have strongest muscular mass all cased in a thin human-like body covered in natural fur which not only gives good aspect but also camouflage . They also also send into military training due to their physical performance which can result later on into an advanced "race" of soldiers .

Kath: Ok, we got here so far. Sheet 2 ?

Bogdan: Sheet 2 says : Reproductivity

They looked at each other .

Kath : *sigh* let's read.

Bogdan: It says : The reproductive abilities of them are not restricted to anthro-anthro . They can hardly reproduce with animals due to the "small organ of an usual cat" but they can reproduce just fine with humans as well.

They looked at each other awkwardly.

Bogdan: We can discuss that ... I mean... Your call.

Kath: Later on, I don't even wanna think of it now.

Bogdan: As I said : They can produce from 2-10 fetuses or can be regulated to an specific number by an specific type of pill .

Kath : What about the other papers ?

Bogdan: Containment... Food... Death... That happens at around 89 years , maximum isn't yet know... Nothing much interesting.

Kath: Let's just sleep , it was a harsh day.

Bogdan (taking Kath between his arms) : Yeah, you're right.

The day was over ,  Alexei tho , still wasn't sleeping. He was searching thru his back pack.

Alexei: Porn mag... Ammo... AHA , WHISKEY , RIGHT HERE.
