infatuation (n.)
°an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone or something.[yoongi f.p.]
the next day, yoongi was sitting in the lively music history classroom, his close friend and roommate sitting next to him as they waited for the teacher to enter the classroom.
the nagging feeling that he was being watched returned once again. he looked around the room, in search of the eyes that bore holes into the side of his head.
"yoongi-ah, i think that boy likes you." hoseok said in a happy tone. "he's been staring at you this whole time." yoongi looked over to who he was pointing at.
it was the boy from yesterday. his cheeks seemed less red than before, but they were still just as pudgy. they looked so soft. if yoongi didn't have a reputation to uphold, he'd have pinched them right then and there.( little did he know, not a single soul gave a damn about his 'reputation' besides him.)
the boy was gliding his pencil across his notebook (sketchbook) and yoongi turned his head to roll his eyes at his friend. "hope, you can't just assume stuff like that. besides," he motioned towards said boy. "he's already pretty occupied with his notebook."
"you're so dumb sometimes, min." hoseok sighed as he turned his head to the teacher who'd just arrived.
the class went by painfully slow. the teacher's monotone voice making it harder and harder to stay awake, but yoongi, once more, felt someone staring at him. he quickly turned his head and lucky him!
he made direct eye contact with the boy that hoseok accused of staring.
bingo! he'd finally caught him. he smirked while still maintaining eye contact. yoongi watched as the brown haired boy's face slowly turned more and more rosy.
he'd worn a beanie that day, his favorite one. he also wore his usual thick rimmed glasses.
as the class came to a close, yoongi got his things in order, ready to confront this boy.
but as the bell rang, he tried to wave down said boy, but to his dismay, the boy put his head down and quickly walked out of the classroom.
"tough luck, min. maybe you'll get him next time." hoseok teased as he walked out of the classroom, headed for the cafeteria.
as soon as they got to their usual table, they heard bickering.
"no, namjoon. that is my final answer-"
"but jin! i promise i won't break anything this time!"
"no! that's what you said last time now look who has one less wii controller? ding!ding! ding! it's me."
"it was an accident! please jin!"
"no." jin said, shutting namjoon up.
"seokjin, namjoon." yoongi greeted his two friends. they greeted him back.
"so...have you guys heard about those two new kids from busan?" hoseok started. it was routine: hoseok and seokjin gossiped about whatever they could, namjoon either whined or talked about politics, and yoongi ignored them all for the most part.
"why would busan kids come here?" yoongi asked in a bored tone. all three others shrugged.
"taehyung says he's already made friends with them," namjoon adds.
"taehyung? i hate that kid. he's so annoying." yoongi said.
"you are the only person to ever say that ever. but i guess you can stick with your incorrect opinion." jin replied as he turned to wave at taehyung who was sitting at a table with two others.
"is that them?" hoseok asked as they all turned their heads to see two new and unfamiliar backs.
"i'd assume so." namjoon spoke in an uninterested tone, slightly bored of the conversation at this point.
"hey, min." hoseok said. yoongi hummed in response. "isn't that the kid from music history? t-the one that was staring at you?"
yoongi squinted his eyes to focus on the beanie wearing individual. "hm. yeah, it is."
"ah! so he's new! that's why i didn't recognize him!" hoseok said.
their lunch went on and yoongi kept staring at the new kid who wore a beanie's back. yoongi thought he had a nice back. his posture was nice. he was quite lean, compared to himself. he was only pale skin and bone.
after they ate lunch, they all headed where they needed to be.
sadly for yoongi, he still had one more class before he could return to his dorm.
he arrived extremely early, considering the class didn't start for another forty minutes or so. he entered the class and to his surprise, there was a boy, wearing a beanie, drawing in a notebook (sketchbook).
he walked over to his and sat directly in front of him. the boy looked up and was scared nearly half to death! he dropped his notebook and scrambled to pick it up while closing his eyes and sighing.
"what in the hell is wrong with you?" he asked.
"why have you been staring at me?" yoongi countered.
the boy choked up and looked away, his cheeks turning pink. he held his notebook (sketchbook) closer to his chest defensively.
"look, i'm not mad. i just want to know." yoongi reasoned. he used his index finger to lift the boy's chin. "what's your name?"
"i-i uh...jimin." jimin stuttered out, anxiety consuming him. "my n-name is jimin park."
yoongi hummed in response. "now, jimin, can you please tell me why you've been staring at me? i won't get mad. i swear."
jimin thought about it. he looked at him questioningly "a-are you sure you won't get mad?" he asked. yoongi nodded. "you won't hit me, right?"
"positive." yoongi said.
jimin shyly set his notebook (sketchbook) on the table. he turned to the most recent pages.
yoongi let his eyes roam the paper in awe. he'd never have guessed that this was why he was being stared down.
"i-i'm sorry. i know it's weird but i was slightly infatuated with your face? no, that's weird i-" jimin cut himself off.
"no way...this is amazing." yoongi stated. he closed the notebook (sketchbook) and handed it back to jimin.
"really?" jimin asked, surprised. he never really showed his art to his...subjects. the last time he did that, he got punched.
"yeah! i wish i could do that." yoongi hadn't been so excited in his life (well, maybe not literally, but nonetheless).
"what's- um what's your name?" jimin asked, embarrassed.
"yoongi min." yoongi replied.
yoongi watched as jimin squirmed in his presence. he thought that he was making jimin uncomfortable, so he decided he should leave him alone.
"i'll leave you alone, now, jimin. but i want you to know something."
"w-what is it?"
"your art really resembles you."
"i...how so?"
"its extremely, breathtakingly, beautiful."
jimin, at a loss for words, merely sat there with pink, chubby cheeks.
"see you later, jimin." yoongi walked off to sit on the opposite side of the room.
