"Damn!" I yelled as the creature brought me back through the tunnel and into the room where Rasputin had been defeated. The grenade belt slipped from my grip and clattered on the steps below as the creature smashed me into wall and pillar before slamming me down on the ground.
"Damn." I said shaking the cobwebs from my head. I spotted the grenade belt just a few feet away.
An idea quickly popped into my head and I got to my feet. I pulled a sword from a statue and as each tentacle came at me, I sliced it right off the creature. I grabbed the belt and held onto it tightly this time when the tentacled beast grabbed me. It tossed me from tentacle to tentacle before holding me above its mouth. I pulled the cable snapping the pins off.
"Oh, this is gonna hurt." I stated. The creature's mouth opened and I dropped right in. I felt each explosion of the grenades before I was shot out of the beast and landed on my back. Its blue gooey blood covered me as I got back to my feet.
"Gonna be sore in the morning." I said to no one but myself. I shrugged off my soiled jacket as I left the room and made my way back to Myers, Liz, and Nyx.
I turned the small corner to see John with his fingers in Nyx's neck and Liz had her hand over her mouth.
"She's got no pulse. She's not breathing." I got down on one knee and felt for myself. There wasn't a throbbing from her heart.
I leant in next to her ear and whispered a simple phrase that I knew somehow would bring her back. I pulled away and stared at her. Not even a second later she began to breathe. Nyx's eyes opened slowly before closing again.
"We gotta get her back. Abe will know what to do." Liz said with tears in her eyes. I broight Nyx into my arms and carried her as we made our way through the tunnels and out of the Moselium.

When we got on the plane, I called Abe to ask him what I should do. He told me to apply dressings and get back to the lab as soon as possible. The whole plane ride out of Russia and back into the US, I never left her side. Luckily Tom kept his damn mouth shut. I looked up as the truck stopped as the gate opened up to the BPRD headquarters. When the truck stopped again, I carried Nyx quickly to Abe's lab.
"I've got everything ready. Set her down." Abe ordered me. I set Nyx down on the metal table and he went to work.
He put 2 different IVs into her arms before cutting off her clothes. Anger bubbled up inside of me as I saw the bullet wounds littering her body.
"Liz will you take Red out please?"
"What's going on?" I inquired.
"She needs surgery. All of you are gonna have to leave." I started to protest by Liz placed her hand on my arm.
"Come on Red. She's in good hands." I took one last look before following Liz out of the lab. Abe hit a button on the wall making the room completely on lockdown so no one could enter.
"She's gonna be fine Red. Nyx has been hurt much worse than this." I didn't say a word. It was like I could feel my very heart breaking with each second that passed.

I don't know what time it was when I made it back to my room. Well forced back to my room. Everything was going as normal. When it was dinner time, John brought my food but I couldn't even eat it. I was just too worried about Nyx. How long does it take for one surgery?
I'd lay down for a while and then get up and pace just trying to get through this agonizing waiting game. Ive tried to keep busy but nothing would stay in mind for too long of a time. I looked at my clock next to my bed. 11:25PM. The surgery has been going on for more than 5 hours. My head snapped towards the door as it opened. I shot to my feet as Abe came in.
"How is she?" I quickly asked him before he could get two steps inside.
"I'll explain on the way." He didn't have to tell me twice. I left my room with him. As we walked down the hall I noticed that we weren't going to his lab. We were headed to Nyx's room. We stopped at Nyx's door and Abe turned to me.
"Listen Red. Nyx did pull through the surgery but I've waited to come and get you until I knew that the blood I've been giving her was taking."
"Abe...what are you saying?" I questioned.
"The surgery only took 2 hours. For the passed 3 I've been giving her blood...and her body is not responding. Nyx may not live through the night." There it was. That same feeling of heartbreak I felt when father died. I can't lose another person I love.
I moved Abe out of the way as I opened her bedroom door. Nyx laid on her bed with a heart monitor next to her along with the IV bags giving her fluids and blood. I went to her side and sat down on a chair that was pulled up next to her. The covers were pulled up to her chest and I could see the bandage peaking from underneath.
"She is breathing on her own but that could change. It's really just a wait and see." I nodded my head as I grabbed her hand, "I'll let you have time with her. Just push that button on the IV stand if anything changes. I'll be here in a flash." Abe explained. I kept my eyes on Nyx as I heard Abe leave the room. I didn't know how to feel. It was like part of me was numb and another part was fighting to stay alive and positive.
"Red?" I looked over to see Liz walk into the room. Her eyes were puffy and red from crying. I stood up and went over to Liz and wrapped my arms around her. For the second time in my life, I cried.
