I closed my eyes, desperately hoping that when I opened them he would still be here and that this will all just be a dream, at least then I can sleep at night without having nightmares about his death. I opened my eyes just as the Priest said the final words "ashes to ashes, dust to dust.." and something in me broke, the walls came crashing down and all the emotions I've been trying so hard not to feel came bursting out all at once.
"Noooooo, please come back to me, I'll do anything! I'll do the dishes forever, stop breaking curfew, I'll even take out the trash! Please Dad, please!" I heard the whispers and felt someone grab me as I lunged for the casket. I frantically tried to get away, kicking and screaming I lunged again but this time I was enveloped in a hug, it calmed me down for a bit until they started lowering him into the ground and then everything went black.
