The father and daughter hugged for a whole three minutes before they bounded back into Krithi's office. They exchanged a knowing look between themselves as they witnessed the woman snore. Aruvi ran to her mother, who held her jovial twin brothers as she slept, and shook her awake.
For a while, Krithi did not budge for Aruvi's persistence. Then, she groggily sat up straight from her crouched sitting position, and blinked at Aruvi with fury in her eyes. Krithi did not like to be disturbed while she was napping. She barely had enough time to sleep these days between her sons' constant neediness, and her work, and instructing her interns.
"I thought I told you not to wake me if there wasn't a code blue or black, or a shortage of Nutella." Krithi said, and Aniket cracked up with the thought that his wife made a Nutella shortage crisis equivalent to a potential bomb in the hospital.
Aruvi huffed with annoyance at her mother. "Someone wants to tell you something."
Krithi finally noticed the elephant in the room, and addressed Aniket. "Sai?" She asked. "Why are you here? And at this time?" She said, and looked at the wall clock.
Suddenly, Aniket's throat felt dry. Will she accept him when he reveals his true identity or will she kick him to the curb like his family did?
"I...I came here to volunteer." Krithi narrowed her eyes at him.
"We don't offer overnight shifts for volunteers." Krithi stated. "For security reasons." She detailed. Krithi sighed, overcome with the man's incompetency. "Why are you really here?"
"I-I came to see the twins." He lied.
Krithi chuckled, detecting his lie. "Didn't know Maran and Jai were that charming."
Aniket rolled his eyes, accepting his defeat. "Fine. I came to see you, happy?" He asked. The dumbfounded expression Krithi offered made Aniket smirk in satisfaction. "What happened, sweetheart? Was that answer acceptable enough?" He asked with a hint of cockiness in his tone.
Krithi looked down at her shirt. "Oh, Shut. Dude, your bad luck. I keep releasing bodily fluids around you." She said, getting out of the chair.
Aniket had definitely noticed the red blotch on Krithi's navy-blue pants when she had handed the twins to him in an emergency. And no, her shirt was soaking with her milk dripping from her nubs.
"Great." She said, looking at the twins with suspicion. "You two did this." She said, as they grinned innocently. She threw her head back in exhaustion, since she didn't want to change into another shirt or battle with the twins while she breastfeeding-fed them.
She made up her mind. The man in front of her was a god's send—once again. "You know what? Hold them." She said, turning the twins towards as she walked to Aniket. He obliged his wife without thought, since he was so used to her crazy demands. He held the twins up by their armpits, while they faced their mother.
"Close your eyes." She demanded, and without asking why, Aniket did as she asked. Krithi removed her partially wet shirt. "If you dare open your eyes, I will kill you." Krithi warned.
Aniket smirked, knowing that his wife was changing right in front of him. He only realized she was using him as a baby-trapper as she fed the twins. Maran, the one in the right, kicked more than Jai, who seemed much more calmer and seemed to follow his brother's lead.
"Just like your father. Why can't you go for the right one?" Krithi murmured, hissing in pain as the two angels in disguise sucked the milk.
"Wait, What?" Aniket asked, his eyes shut tightly closed. He knew she was breast-feeding them, and she practically used him to trap the over-excited twins. Yet, he didn't mind at all.
