A rustling in the blankets next to him. Then a familiar green tuft of hair.
She had already been inside of the den.
His breath hitched as her hand stuck out of the pillow pile she was in, and searched around. Her fingers touching everything they could. Black Hat quickly maneuvered around the hand, carefully so she wouldn't find him. The searching came to a stop.
Her head suddenly shot out of the pillows. Her face twisted into anger. She was still mad at him?
"No, get out! This would usually be cute, but no! See, had you not burnt it down the other day I would've let you stay!"
"Who said I was staying? I came in here to make sure you weren't dead."
"Don't you want me dead?" She cocked her head.
Black Hat didn't say anything. He crawled out of the mass of sheets and comfortable blankets, and out into the cold world. He shivered.
Demencia poked her head out of the drapes, looking at Black Hat. She sighed, retreating back into the den. Her head came back out with a frown.
"I know you don't like being a old, snakey, man, but it wouldn't hurt to give in once in a while..." She tempted, patting the polyester blanket beside her. "How about you try making your own?" Black Hat presented a scornful frown.
"I'm not making anything. Don't try to rope me into your antics."
"Oh, ok." She frowned, visibly disappointed with his choice.
Her head disappeared once more, and never returned. There was some movement within the den that he could see from the outside, but it came to a pause. She seemingly laid down or had retreated deeper into the mass.
That encounter wasn't... pleasing to him. That blasted lizard made a fool out of him everytime they were in the same room.
