Chapter 11

[Violet's POV]

I finally confessed to Clem and we have been dating for a little over a week now. Louis and Brody knew because they'd been spying on us with the assumption that we were dating. They caught me giving Clem a kiss on the cheek after school and that's how they figured it out. We hadn't told our parents yet though. I knew my family would disapprove but Clem didn't know what Lee thought of LGBT.

Now Clem, Louis, Brody and I were heading to a donut shop in town. Although the other two were aware we were dating, Clem and I had to avoid making it too obvious incase someone saw and told everyone at school or worse, our parents. We all sat at a table by the window with a clear view of the street. There wasn't much to look at outside so we moved our eyes to our individual menus. Clem ordered a large milkshake for me and her to share; she wasn't a fan of donuts. Louis ordered two large strawberry iced donuts and complained to Clem asking why she didn't like donuts. I kicked him under the table as it was genuinely starting to annoy me. Brody ordered a small milkshake for herself; her reason for not wanting a donut was because she wasn't hungry. I got a small plain donut; I wasn't that hungry either but unlike Brody, I hadn't eaten any breakfast.

Soon enough our food and drinks arrived and we tucked in. Whilst me and Clem started drinking our milkshake at the same time Louis started 'Ooh-ing' at us. I faced him with my award-winning death glare and said "Did you order a broken face too? Free of charge."

He shut up again after that. I felt Clem place her hand on mine under the table. She gave me an amused yet sympathetic look.

"So guyyyyss...I was thinking..." Louis began.

"Oh god..." I said under my breath, he still heard me though.

"We should all totally hang out at some point. Like...soon"

"That...actually isn't a bad idea. Where though?"

"Glad you asked Vi. I was thinking maybe the beach. You know?"

"That'd be nice. We could all just relax, maybe take a swim. Ice cream?" Brody said.

"Yeah but we'll have to check with everyone else to see who's coming" Clem added.

We all agreed on this, finished our food and left. Louis had basketball practice outside of school and Brody helped out at the animal shelter so it was just Clem and I. Not that I had a problem with that.

"So..." Clem turned to face me. "What do you wanna do?"

"Ooh I see you" I respond moving my eyebrows up and down. She laughed at my joke and playfully shoved me.

"Idiot. Seriously though, anywhere you want to hang out? I don't feel like going home; AJ and Lee are binging all of the Shrek movies"

"What do you have against Shrek?" I say pretending to be offended.

"Nothing! Just the fact that I've watched all of them so many times to the point where I could literally recite the script of each movie"

"Haha, okay then. Do you wanna go to the local skate park? I can bring my skateboard"

"Sure, I'll have to get my scooter though. Never been good at riding skateboards"

"Bet I know what you are good at ridin--"

"Shut up"

Clem got her scooter and we were now standing outside my house. My skateboard was in my room.

"Should I wait out here?" She asks.

"Yeah please. My dad is probably inside and he hates strangers in the house"

"Okay"

I walked inside the house to the familiar stench of alcohol and smoke. The smell filled my lungs and I felt like throwing up. I glanced over at the couch to find my dad half naked and passed out. I quietly made my way upstairs, passed by the study and into my room. My skateboard was next to my mattress which was all the way in the corner. I tiptoed my way over the mess to get to it and did the same when leaving.

I passed by the study again and I could hear my mum vigorously typing on her laptop. I wanted to go in and check up on her but I held myself back. Instead I went downstairs, walked by my dad and headed out the door.

I was greeted by Clementine smiling at me. I couldn't get over her smile.
We walked on to the skatepark, talking about random things as usual, and ended up stood infront of it.
