Divergent High

Ch. 12

"What do you want to do?" Shauna asks.

"Have you guys read or seen "The Hunger Games"?" i ask. All of them said yes. Yes! "Do you want to play? Like we would pair up and we would each get a paint ball gun. We would go in the woods and whenever you get shot, you would go outside of the woods and blow a horn. The remaining team would win."

"Okay. That sounds like fun. One question, where would we get the paintball guns and horn?" Zeke asks.

"We would buy them, duh" Lynn answers.

Zeke and Lynn just keep sticking their tongues out at each other over and over again until Shauna steps between them.

"Lets go then!" Will says.

"Wait, wheres Al?" Marlene asks.

"Oh, he had a family thing so he couldn't come" Will answers.

"Oh, okay. lets go!" Uriah volunteers.

When we get to the Candor Outlets, we split up into two groups. Uriah, Zeke, Marlene, Four and Shauna are getting the paintball stuff while Lynn, Christina, Will, and I are getting the horn and vests.

Once we bought our assigned equipment, we met up back at the swings.

"Okay so since Al isn't here, there will either have to be a team of three or a team of one." I explain. "Find your partner and we'll see who's left."

All the couples are together meaning Mar and Uri, Chris and Will, and Zeke and Shauna. Then there is me and Lynn so its just Four.

"Do you wanna be in a team of three or do you wanna be by yourself?" Marlene asks Four.

"Im gonna be by myself." He replies.

"Okay then. Lets get started!" Shauna says.

We all go separate ways into the woods. Lynn and I sprint strait into the middle where she says is a large boulder. Its a good thing we are both fast. When we get there, I see she is correct.

"A lot of teams will probably come here. Its pretty much the go to place." Lynn says. If she is right we got here first.

"Then what should we do? You now these woods better than I do." I admit.

"Thats true. I think we should climb one of these trees and wait till everyone gets here then shoot them all." She explains.

"Should we go in different trees so when we shoot them, the bullets aren't coming from the same place? We could also jump from tree to tree to confuse them even more. The trees are pretty close together." I say.

"Your right. I'll start on this one and you can start from the one across the way."

"Kay"

While Im climbing I notice the branches are kind of thick- good for climbing- and it theres a pretty good path up. I guess a bunch of kids cone here often to play.

It takes about 5 minutes until Mar and Uri come to the rock. Lynn and I make eye contact and she points to herself then Uriah and counts down on her fingers from three. I know that she wants me to shoot Marlene.

When she gets to one we both aim and shoot. She shoots Uriah but I miss Mar because apparently, she has good reflexes. Me and Lynn jump from tree to tree trying to hit Marlene, which obviously confuses her, and I finally hit her in the lower back. All this time Uriah has been screaming, which luckily for us, Will and Christina came.

Me and Lynn aim for them and get them out, too. Christina yells, "don't come to the big boulder, or a team-i don't know who- will shoot you!"

"Thanks Chris" i say while climbing down they are all harmless since we already shot them, so we are safe. Chris, Will, Mar, and Uri all run out of the woods and blows the horn 4 times.

Me and Lynn make our way around the perimeter of the woods, but we haven't seen anyone. I guess Shauna, Zeke, and Four are good hiders.

Right when we were about to go back i saw a green paint ball flying through the air. I dodged it, but Lynn wasn't so lucky.

"Schist!" Lynn yelled and stomped off to the horn.

I frantically looked around, trying to find the ambusher, and when I saw long hair, I immediately knew it was Shauna. I ran north west towards the opposite side of the horn and I heard a "bang" and heard a scream that sounded like Zeke.

When I reached where the noise was coming from, I realized Four was the one who shot Zeke.

Well obviously

Who are you?

Im your conscious idiot

Hey! Who you callin an idiot?

Bye.

Well that was rude. So now there are three of us left all solo.

I heard a girly scream, obviously Shauna, and Four ran towards it. I could've shot Four, but I knew I was going to miss and then he would shoot me. I followed Four being as quiet as I could. When Four stopped, I looked around and saw Shauna on the floor moaning holding her ankle.

"Shauna what happened?" Four asked. I didn't say anything because I wanted to stay unnoticeable.

"Well, I tripped and I think I twisted my ankle." Shauna replied.

"Oh. Can I shoot you because I really want to get Tris out. Also because you probably want to stop." Four said. Well okay. I guess I should run now.

"Yeah sure" Shauna said.

And he pulled the trigger and red paint splattered her unharmed leg.

I ran to the boulder and decided to do what Lynn and I did at the beginning. First I had to make noise though, to cone find me.

"Owwww stupid rock!" I yelled, hopefully loud enough that Four would hear.

Then I started climbing up the same tree I went in last time. I waited about five minutes until he got here.

When he got to the boulder I shot right at the tree in front of him. He looked in the direction it came from while I jumped from tree to tree. I kept aiming at him but missing when my foot hold snapped and I fell to the ground.
