Ch. 19

Tris's POV

When we get to the Abnegation Sector, I see a few gray buildings, a big open yard, and a big parking lot filled with many food trucks and some cars. One car looks kind of familiar, but many people have the same car.

We walked into the middle building that has a huge sign that says, "Abnegation Sector" on it. Inside it is filled with animals. There are mostly dogs, but there are some cats and other animals too.

We walk up to a desk in the back of the room where a middle aged woman with dark brown hair pulled up in a bun.

"Hi Brenda, my daughter and I would like to help out at the shelters." My mom said to the lady.

"Yes okay. Names?" Brenda asked.

My mom replied with, "Beatrice and Natalie"

"Okay, wear these so we know who you are" Brenda advised while handing each of us a name tag.

We were walking away from the desk when I saw him. Ugh, why does he have to be everywhere.

I guess my mom saw them too, because she says, "Hi Marcus, hi Four."

"Hello Natalie, Beatrice" Marcus says back. I feel my face heat up a bit at the sound of my full name. I see Four trying to stifle his laugh.

"How about Beatrice and Four work together while me and you do. I know Beatrice would love to spend time with her friend." My mom says to Marcus, but directed to all of us.

I give my mom a death glare and nudge her with my elbow. She seems to get the message, but she ignores it. Ugh, the world hates me!

"Okay, come on Beatrice." Four emphasizes my name.

"Coming!" I say in a fake happy voice. I mouth to my mom, 'I'll get you later,' and follow Four.

"What do you want to do first?" Four asks me. I see my mom and Marcus go outside.

"Lets stay here," I say.

"Ok" he says. This is so awkward.

We don't talk much and I try to stay away from him as much as possible.

Until I break the silence. "Are you and Nita dating?" I ask Four.

"Yeah" he says.

More silence.

I was feeding a golden retriever when I felt water and dog food on me. I look up at Four and see him smirking.

"What?" He asks like he doesn't know what happened.

"Seriously!?" I yell.

Then he starts cracking up.

I throw food at him; both dry and wet food. I hit him strait in the face. I start laughing and he throws more at me. The dogs seem pretty confuse because they just stare at us. Its a good thing we are kind of hidden from the rest of the place and the animals are loud because we would most likely be kicked out.

We keep throwing things at each other and we are now standing up. When I took a step to throw some food, I slipped on some water.

I fell face first onto Four and I knocked him down with me. I landed right on top of him and it seemed like the world slowed down.

I was looking strait into his stormy, blue eyes. He was looking into my blue- gray eyes.  Everything was perfect. Wait- what?!

When I realized what was going on, I shot right up and brushed off my jeans. When he stood up, I said, "s-sorry." Seriously Tris, you stuttered!? 

"Its fine." He replied.

Then we cleaned up our mess in silence.
