.:the year is two-thousand and seven:.
"James, I told you that we should have taken that left road 2 hours ago." I groaned as I leaned lazily on my seat.
"Yeah, no, I got this, Andrew, just trust me." James made a thumbs-up sign at me from the driver's seat.
By the way, James is my driver. I've been telling him how to get to the Arizona Crater. He doesn't listen to my directions, but he should have. Because now I'm late for my appointment and Matt probably thinks I stood him up. So here I am, in the backseat of this car, looking out to the seemingly endless desert.
But hold on a minute, let me introduce myself.
Hey.
I'm Andrew VanWynGarden. I'm an Astrophysicist. And I'm travelling to Arizona's Barringer Crater. Do you know what that is? It's one of the most famous Craters here on Earth. It's over 50,000 years old, and yet it has preserved it's state. Cool, right?
Here, I have a picture of it. {Look to the right, at the Multimedia Section}
Anyway, I was supposed to start filming for our new Documentary about the "Wonders of the Solar System"*.
For BBC.
--Anyway, our first stop would be the Barringer Crater of the Arizona Desert. My Cameraman, Matt Asti, is probably already there, but I, on the other hand, am very late, and I think James and I are even lost.
Since I don't have much to do here, and I couldn't send text messages to Matt (if none of you have realized, there is no signal in the desert), I looked out through the window, and examined the path we were taking.
The desert land streched across the horizon, with green cacti randomly dotting the sand. The sun was right above our heads, and the heat seemed almost unbearable. If me and James get stuck here for a few days without water, we'll probably die. And if that happens, the chances would be slim that anyone would find, let alone recognize, our bodies.
Another hour slowly passes, and I still see nothing but the desert.
I gave up looking out the window and lay down on the length of the backseat.

"Andrew... Hey... Wake up."
I woke, and the first thing I felt was the heavy pain in my head. I didn't want to get up, because I felt horrible.
But I felt a hand tapping my shoulder, and I opened my eyes to see that the car had stopped in the middle of the desert. I sat up and looked at James who was smiling at me.
"Hey man," was all I could say.
"Listen, I'm very sorry..."
I know I mentioned that James was my driver, but he's seriously more than that. James and Matt were great friends of mine.
Often times, James would show off his skills and charisma, sometimes plunging us into some dangerous stuff, like now.
Yes, I missed my appointment, we got lost, and we might even die here, all because of James, but I couldn't even try bringing myself to be mad at him, especially because I can see how guilty he feels. I know he didn't mean this.
"That's okay, dude. We'll get out of this." I patted his shoulder, then smiled.
"By the way, I woke you up because I can see something out there." James pointed out the window, and I instinctively turned my head to see.
It was probably 2:00PM, because the day was very bright, and the temperature was around 40 degrees. The desert was covered with different shapes of cactus, and at first glance, it seems as though nothing would survive here except them (the cactus, I mean).
But I squinted my eyes when I saw a dark brown figure moving across the sand. A horse?
A... big horse?

A / N: Sorry if Andrew seems out-of-character for you ~ He's really kind of out of character since this is a PG fanfic. But I hope you liked Chapter 1!
