i'm so surprised that no one really ever talked about this, not that i've seen at least. ever since harry first performed this song i had my suspicions. granted, the first time he sang it in tennessee and it being a country song, but i think it's more than that. there are so many other songs he could've sang but why girl crush?

if you haven't heard of this song before, girl crush is a country song originally performed by little big town. the song is about someone being jealous and obsessed with this girl because she gets to be with the guy she wants or may not have anymore. if this isn't obvious already...

so my theory is that he's dedicating this song to louis and eleanor. even though she's his dog sitting beard, they are believed to be in a rEaL rElAtIoNsHiP. the reason this song could be dedicated to louis is because the lyrics of the song is a story line of what this person would do just to be closer to the guy they want.

the lyrics are as follows: (i bolded what really convinced me)

I got a girl crush
Hate to admit it but
I got a heart rush
Ain't slowing down
I got it real bad
Want everything she has
That smile and that midnight laugh
(S)he's giving you now

I want to taste her lips
Yeah, 'cause they taste like you
I want to drown myself
In a bottle of her perfume
I want her long blonde hair
I want her magic touch
Yeah, 'cause maybe then
You'd want me just as much

I got a girl crush
I got a girl crush

I don't get no sleep
I don't get no peace
Thinking about her
Under your bed sheets
The way that she's whispering
The way that she's pulling you in
Lord knows I've tried,
I can't get her off my mind

I want to taste her lips
Yeah, 'cause they taste like you
I want to drown myself
In a bottle of her perfume
I want her long blonde hair
I want her magic touch
Yeah, 'cause maybe then
You'd want me just as much

I got a girl crush

I got a girl crush
Hate to admit it but
I got a heart rush
It ain't slowing down

the entire song basically lmao. and what really solidified my beliefs about it is WHY is the literally the only cover he did a studio version of? he loves fleetwood mac but never did a studio version cover of one of their songs. he sang ultralight beam but never did a studio version. he could've just left it as a cover he did at a few shows, but no. i wonder why this song meant so much to him that decided to do a studio version. i'm just saying...
