I couldn't stand the feeling I felt every time I looked out my window and saw Damien coming home with that same girl for two weeks now.
She would follow him home everyday after school and a few hours later she would come out and leave. Sometimes it was shorter than that. Or she would come over in the evenings. I didn't know who she was or what they were doing all the time but he had not talked to me in almost 14 days and I couldn't stand it.
The people at my church would always talk about how people in the world were so quick to move from one thing to the next that they can so easily dispose of friends and go on to the next best thing. This is what they meant. Damien met a girl who can hang out any time of the day. She can drive herself around and come and go whenever she pleases. Oh how I was a jealous of her life. I always saw people going in and out of the neighbors houses but I never really thought about how much I wish I could go places until I met Damien.
As I sat in the house Friday I snuck off from my mother who was sitting in the living room reading and ran up to my room. It was about 2:30 and Damien should be home from school. I couldn't help myself. I had to see if he came home with her again. As soon as I saw the black car pull into the driveway and Damien get out my heart jumped. I waited a moment before seeing no other car pull in behind him. This was my chance. My mother had her music playing and she was immersed in a book.
I had some almonds I got from the kitchen and I was hoping they would make a loud enough sound on his window for him to notice. I opened my window up and saw his closed window. Please be in your room, Damien.
I threw the the first one heading the ping as it struck. He had to of heard that. I gave it a second before throwing the next one. It wasn't until two while almonds later that I finally saw the blinds opening. My eyes widened and I smiled waving at Damien who shook his head at my opening his window finally.
"What's up weirdo?" He asked casually taking a seat on a spinning chair in his room. It was in this moment I realized I didn't know what to say. I just wanted to see him. To talk to him about something. Anything.
"Ummmm.... uhhh... how was school", I asked, noticing his book bag on the desk in front of him.
"Same as always. Have you seen that freak boy yet?" He asked casually. I couldn't understand how he had not spoke to me in two weeks and was acting so casual about it.
"Uhhh.... yeah. I hadn't gotten to do that thing yet though. We haven't been alone", I responded Hutching down on the windowsill.
"You gotta let me know when you do and what his reaction is. Ugh to see the loo..."
"Why haven't you talk to me in 14 day?" It's been a long time.
He let out a huff and leaned back. "Sorry princess. I've been busy. I haven't forgotten about you though", he smiled to me but I didn't heat up per usual.
"Is it because of that girl. The one that's comes over all the time", I asked pouting my lip a bit.
His eyebrows then knitted as he sat up, a curved smile forming on his face.
"are you jealous Winter"? He asked.
I crossed my arms narrowing my eyes at him. "Not in the slightest. I just... I don't want you to stop being my friend", I responded my voice getting low enough for him to barely hear.
