"Well, we've been going for about two days now and we're barely at Timms Town," Don informed, sighing dishearteningly.
"This is gonna be much longer than I thought," Steven added, not much better than his brother.
"Stop whining and pick up the pace then bros, we're almost to Solaria. I'd bet that's where we want to go," Lyra said.
"I just want some lunch," Zad professed, his stomach growling in agreement. "I know belly, just a bit longer."
"I second that; we need to eat. We've been walking since like six a.m. and it's about noon now," Steven replied, expressing his concern that was shared by Zad only, seemingly.
"Two out of five... it may be uneven, but I'm hungry," Zad orated as he slung the pack to the ground and pulled out the ingredients needed for a good 'ol PB&J.
"Ya know, eating outside like this is kind of like having a picnic every day," Lyra remarked as she removed a Dr. Pepper from the bag and opened it up.
"Yeah, it's nice I guess. Even when the worst happens, some good things can come out of it too," Don agreed, sipping on a can of Mountain Dew.
"I can agree to that," Rodri hopped on the bandwagon, joining the rest as he took out a can of Coca-Cola for himself and opened it up. When he did, however, instead of a nice crisp crack the soda instantly sprayed. "Just my luck..." He gripped, wiping his face while the rest of the group chuckled.
"Ha ha, it is really nice though, just sitting here like this," Steven said as he successfully opened his can of Dr. Pepper without spraying himself in the face. "To think, just a few days ago we were attached to our phones and games like that was our entire world. Now that's all gone for the most part,"
Zad, as he lay on his back using his hands as a pillow, added onto Steven's comment. "Yeah, this really is relaxing... it feels nice, but for now we need to focus on stopping that company, so we shouldn't be getting too relaxed ya know?"
"We can take 'em. I bet there weak," Don boasted, sticking out his unimpressive chest with conceit.
"But still, we don't even know how we use these powers we have," Steven reminded his brother, reeling the boy back from his imagination.
"Then we practice," Rodri stated, like it was obvious, as he stood up and walked to the nearby recycling bin. He stopped well before getting close enough to guarantee that he makes the shot and threw his can. A rock rose randomly and bumped it in so it didn't miss. "Ha, see that? That was all me. My powers are totally the best," he bragged, not even realizing what he had started.
[Rodri's sure gotten confident in such a short time... I'm sure he'll be a ton of help] Zad thought to himself pleasantly.
"Wait, how'd you do that?" Steven asked. [These powers are pretty useless if we can't use them, but if we can and it's as easy as it looks. We might have a shot at defending ourselves out here. Maybe Zad isn't being crazy] Steven thought.
"Oh, well I just kinda thought it, and then I did it," Rodri answered, shrugging.
"Hmm, so, like, if I were to think about my fist bursting into flames it might work?" Zad inquired.
"Maybe? It worked for me," Rodri replied as Zad loosely balled up his fist and successfully started a bright orange flame.
"Sweet!" Zad exclaimed, incredibly delighted with the result. "Now then, wanna practice?" He challenged, smirking as he ignited his other fist. [It's been a minute since I've done Karate. If I want any hope of keeping everyone safe and finding that city of gold I'm gonna need to be in top form]
