Chapter 6: I'm A Ruin but Please Don't Leave Me

In silence, she slipped out of his bed with a black mass clouding her nude body to then fade into her reaper attire. Moving across the room light on her feet, quietly opening his bedroom door to slip out in silence before gently shutting the door behind her. She hated being woken up at the most ungodly hours of the night but when the feeling of dread and life slipping filling her whole, she needed to be there to retrieve the soul. Regardless of the human was good or bad, that is something Lady Death will decide. Her job was to simply take the soul before it gets caught in the web of limbo.

But before she took her full leave, Valdis paused in her tracks and her attention leading back to the door. Not because of the fact she may have woken him up but, the fact leaving in the odd hours of the night again. Although it was normal for her to leave randomly for reaping souls, she left though if she were to leave without saying anything, he'd get upset and think she's leaving to see someone else.

She paced over to the whiteboard on the fridge, taking the expo marker to leave him a note before jumping into her reaper form and backing into a shadow.

Had to do a late night job. I won't be back at all, but if you want to see me, come to the Camisado tonight. It's going to be one of my big shows tonight! I hope to see you there~

It's been a couple of weeks since the after-party and Valdis and Steve fixing things between them once again except; They still never sealed their deal of being a couple again. Without realization, Valdis has been seeing both Remy and Steve on separate occasions but never mentioned it to the other male. She has been so caught up in her own little world of juggling the issues with her brothers on checking in with Charlie, being an Avenger, being a showgirl for a popular cabaret, and her reaping job. It was all too much for her but she was taking it but letting out her releases in a problematic manner.

Jumping in between seeing either man; Seeing Steve during the day and then seeing Remy during the night. Having Steve wrapped around her finger with Remy waiting for her during the night for their evening activities from gambling to sexual intercourse. Did Valdis see any of this wrong? She did but she was way in too deep to try to stop any of it. At this point, she knew if Steve or Remy were to find out that she's been running rings around them, they'll start a war between each other for her. It was cliche, she didn't want it to be cliche but she didn't know how to escape her situation without ghosting on everything.

"You invited them both to your Burlesque show tomorrow night?" Loki asked with a quirked eyebrow, leaning against Valdis's cubicle as he watched her quickly yet systematically file papers by year.

"I know it sounds bad but I am proud of how this show is coming out! It's not like they're going to be sitting by each other. LeBeau will be in his own private seating on the second tier while Rogers will be out on the floor on the opposite side of the place." Valdis responded almost too nonchalant about what she was doing, treating it as if it wasn't going to give her any more boy trouble.

He let out a sigh before running his hand over his face at Valdis's stupid plan. She has really lost her mind. She wasn't even in the mindset of a prostitute, the mindset of a high schooler girl, far from just a cheater or player. This woman was playing both men as if they were her Barbie dolls; taking advantage of Steve's puppy love towards her and Remy's past relationship emotions. Loki couldn't even pinpoint where the Valdis he was forced to meet and became partners with, that girl was kind, always put others before her, never once wanted anything in return, and a wild child of a girlfriend that had Steve's head spinning. But now this girl is evil to be playing with both men's emotions. Loki has seen both Remy's and Steve's jealousy at the party when she'd shamelessly flirt with them.
