As he walked through the village he noticed himself staring at the opposite side of the market, searching for the girl.
Suddenly he caught a glimpse of her walking through the wooden door of a bar. She attempted to hide under her cloak best as possible but he recognized her instantly nonetheless.
He slowly walked toward the bar. Careful not to raise any suspicion from the few people on the streets, he opened the door.
She walked into the village, thinking about the stranger. Why was he here? Why did he need to come to the village at night? Why did she help him?
She attempted to hide beneath the large hood of her cloak in her best effort not to be seen.
She opened the door of the bar and instantly her mood changed. The music filled her with joy as she made her way to the back table of the bar. She set down her lantern and took off her cloak to reveal the beautiful dress she had on underneath.
She walked up to the counter and opened the small pouch hanging from her waist. She took out two coins.
"Aye' lassie! Welcome back! What'll it be today miss?" The bartender asked. He had red hair and a red beard, along with a hefty mug of beer in his hand.
"The usual." She said, smiling.
She felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around quickly.
"Aye'! You didn't think I was someone else did ya' miss? Its good to see you back!" The drunk man said.
She smiled and gave him a hug. "Its great to see ya' Donal!"
"If ya' don't hurry up with ya' drink lass', yer gonna miss the next song!" The man lifted his glass and walked away chuckling.
The bartender handed her the drink. "Enjoy!"
A catchy tune started to play. She ran joyfully to the large part of the bar filled with the smell of whiskey and rum. She jumped on a table and began dancing the jig that complemented the song. The others in the bar began dancing as well. Laughter filled the air and happiness filled their hearts. Everyone was having fun and linking arms as part of the dance. Drunken men could be heard making a beat with their hands on the tables and chairs, occasionally adding a, "hey!" or "oy!" to the mix. Mugs of alcohol were being slid across the counters and re-filled.
Suddenly the door opened.
