It only took a day for the two brothers to recover, their bodies having had experienced much, much worse injuries in the past. Dean, fueled by a newly developed grudge against this specific djinn, was eager to get to work hunting it down and ganking it.

Sam, on the contrary, seemed to be surprisingly quiet, distant. As he came out of his much needed sleep, Dean could see something newly dulled in his eyes, a thought or memory he couldn't seem to shake. Dean, always set on the idea that emotions should be bottled, decided not to ask.

"It's definitely moved," Cas said, observing a map of the city they were in. "There was a kidnapping on the other side of town last night, and I'm sure it's completely abandoned the warehouse it was previously residing in."

"Okay, we can go check out the murder right now." Dean offered as he heard the shower turn off in the bathroom.

"Dean, do you think..." Cas started, glancing at the bathroom door. "Do you think Sam's okay?"

Dean swallowed, avoiding Cas' gaze. "He'll be fine," Dean resolved, standing up. "Probably just a rough, freak-induced dream."

Cas' brow furrowed, another thought bubbling to his head. "What about you, Dean?" He asked hesitantly. "What did you dream of?"

Dean quicky shrugged, turning to hide the heat rising to his face. Yes, that was the question, wasn't it? Dean had tried so hard in the past twenty-four hours to block the persisting memories of the dream out of his conscious mind. They seemed to beg for him to return, continue to explore the world that the djinn had stuck him in. Every time he closed his eyes, he could see Cas in the AC/DC t-shirt, the pictures hanging happily in the hallway. He would have preferred a nightmare as opposed to the confusing insanity of...whatever the hell he had experienced.

"You know," Dean said casually. "Same as the last time. Hot wife, bundle of kids, plenty of beer in the fridge." He scoffed. "It's not like I've never encountered a djinn before."

Cas nodded absentmindedly, too tired to argue.

"So what's the plan?" Sam asked, stepping out of the bathroom.

"Fed threads," Dean replied. "There's been another attack."

"You said you knew Miss Baker?" Dean asked the teary eyed girl in front of him. Typically, the three of them would be empathetic during a case like this, but they were worn out. They just wanted the djinn dead, regardless of other people's feelings.

"Yeah, we used to be roommates. Still friends." she sniffed.

"Any idea who'd want to take her? Anyone with grudges?"

Another tear slid down her cheek. "No, Abby...Abby was-is as sweet as they come. I don't know who would want to take her." Her brow furrowed. "Except..."

"What?"

Hesitancy flashed across her face. "Abby was, well, cheating on her boyfriend. With her, er, best friend."

"With his best friend?"

"Her best friend. Lynn Green."

"Oh."

"Yeah."

"So you think her boyfriend, er..."

"Jeremy Haddock."

"Jeremy would have kidnapped her?"

She shrugged. "I don't know." her brow furrowed. "Now that I think about it, I haven't seen him since yesterday."
