Days turned into weeks, and weeks, into months.
I hadn't seen you in that time span, and nothing within me wanted to.
I didn't want to see the damage I had caused, or the sadness I had enveloped in you.
My mind took me to a hotel, hidden on the outskirts of town, north from where you should have been.
The hotel room is empty except a brown lounging chair, a bed that wasn't made, a small kitchen area, and a single drawer for my clothes.
The bathroom was small and dirty, but nothing in the room would make me turn back home.
I sit on the carpet, quietly staring at the hotel wall, holding a single flower I had taken from the forget-me-nots I left you.
The flower was dying in my hands, as its blue petals faded to a brown, and wilted from no sunlight.
And honestly,
That was me without you.
