Run. Run!Faster!
Run...... Deli. R u n
That's all she could think about as her bare feet tore through the loose earth, mud squishing between her toes, caking the bottom of her sore feet almost making it impossible to move as fast as she wanted to. She could feel her quad muscles tensing and beginning to burn as she worked through the thick trees. Pushing her hands in front of her she ripped at the leaves hanging down in her face, something landing on her and crawling down her back made her squeeze her eyes shut for a half second to suppress the scream that bubbled in her chest on reflex.
Ignoring the feeling of the little legs walking down her spine, she pushed harder to make it through the thick brush. Despite ripping all the branches from her face she could still feel the branches making contact with other parts of her body, scraping her skin and pulling on her already ratted hair. However, that was at the back of her mind in the moment as she just worried about keeping her legs moving.
She could barely hear her feet slamming into the soft earth, over the reverberating of her heart. Deciding to focus on the noise she tried to get her mind off of the sound of footsteps, and snapping branches behind her. Feeling her heart pounding against her rib cage, it was almost like her heart was beating so hard she could make out every single thump of her pulse.
Sweat ran down her forehead making its way into her eyes and down the sides of her temples. Her hair was sticking to her hot, clammy skin; she felt agitation bubble up inside of her. Wiping her face, she slowed down looking behind her. Slowly creeping, Cordelia made her way behind the thick stump of a dying tree. Leaning against the its rough bark she finally took a long awaited deep breath.
Hearing a noise behind her Cordelia whipped her head around, a shudder went down her spine. Making another run for it her foot caught on a tree root, forrest floor came flying to her face. Landing hard on the pine needles and mud she felt her lungs struggle to re-fill with oxygen, scrambling to sit up she winced. Looking back at her ankle she saw a red bruise forming on the dirty skin. Deciding that her ankle could wait she stood once more struggling her way to a thick tree.
Chest heaving, her eyes darted around the darkness for any sign of movement. Tears ran down her pale cheeks leaving clear paths through the thin layer of dirt. Running hands through blond hair her slim fingers got caught in tiny knots ripping at the blond tresses to free her hand, not thinking of the dull pain on her scalp or the sound of breaking hair.
Cordelia set to focus on her alarmingly quick heart rate, laying a hand across her chest. Swallowing thickly she slid down the bark to land on the soft earth below her. Ultimately scratching her flushed skin on the way down.
Laying her shaking hands on pale thighs she let out a groan looking at her once healing wound, now bleeding again from her run. Wincing she slightly moved her fingers over the ripped skin, the flesh an angry red color due to blood and oncoming infection.
She just wished she was back with Sorin right now, he would know what to do and he could've killed whoever the hell decided she needed to die. However, right now she didn't have Sorin and she was going to have to be strong on her own, eyes shut she took a deep breathe before setting her mind onto surviving.
Silent pants left her mouth as she decided that whoever was chasing her had possibly given up, turning around to look the other way a hands clamping around her throat and mouth silencing her screams for help.
