By evening time I found myself in the yard once again. It was cool out and lightning bugs floated past me like stars. Out here, in this very moment it seemed like a different world. I hadnt seen Jasper for a few hours and I decided maybe it would be wise to go and check on him.

The house was hauntingly silent and from my arms sprouted goosebumps. Jaspers home was indeed beautiful but its age had made it creepy in every way an old house could possibly be. I was never one to wander around at night by myself and Japsers house was vast and unfamiliar. I took a few steps up the stairs and paused, what if he was occupied with something personal, like a bath? I thought perhaps he would have told me if he were, but maybe he hadnt wanted to bother me. I continued up to the top of the stairs and quietly made my way down the left corridor, I couldnt believe how much art he owned and how far it could go on. A door at the end of the hall was slightly ajar and sounds could be heard from inside. I placed both hands over my heart as it nearly beat right out of my chest. I peaked into the room and just barely visible was Jaspers backside, he seemed to be focused on whatever he was doing and while he did this he hummed. It was a very melodic tune that pleased my ears and it carried out if the room in a soft echo. I heard the sound of footsteps and I continued to watch, Jasper had moved over to a desk in the middle of the room and he sat down, quickly following this he began to scribble some things down onto a piece of paper. It couldn't have been too serious for Jasper was smiling and tapping his other hand to the beat of his hum. I grinned a little at how adorably lost in thought he was. It wasnt awkward until Jasper stopped humming and picked up the paper before he read off quietly to himself what it was he'd been writing,

"Time is as consistent as it is inevitable, it's what lengthens her hair, what brightens her cheeks.
Time waits for nothing and all that we hesitate upon will soon be too far away to grasp.
Time has provided me with these words of undying affection, hopefully with time they will be hers"

I blushed, what a beautiful poem, I could never write something that involved so much, I felt myself giggle, time. Jasper set the paper down and he peeked up at the door, I covered my mouth and swore silently at myself before softly running back down the hall and down the steps. Halfway down I tripped on my skirts and tumbled the rest of the way down. I lay still for a moment, my hand on my side. I let out a soft groan of pain and embarrassment and before long I heard my name from my previous location,

"Marie, is everything alright?" I looked up and saw Jaspers figure at the top of the stairs and in a flash he was at the bottom, lifting me up,

"My God are you alright? What happened?" I sat up and groaned under my breath, my face was flushed,

"I got spooked, a couple of stairs in I tripped over my skirts...it wasnt as bad as it sounded I'm just clumsy" Jasper helped me to my feet and held my arm to support me,

"It sounded like an elephant had fallen from the roof" I looked up at him and he was grinning from ear to ear. I crossed my arms and smirked,

"That is obnoxiously rude to call a lady an elephant" Jasper placed his hands on his hips leaning forward as he did so,

"I didnt call you one I simply said that you sounded like one, theres a very big difference you know" I rolled my eyes and turned on my heels to pout elsewhere but before I could Jasper grabbed me and pulled me back around. I dont think he had ment to pull so hard because I smashed into his chest and we both stared at each other for seconds before he slowly let go, his voice a deep mutter,
