Hopping into the Uber, Tori and I have no idea where to begin in terms of shopping. It's not every day we get to be in the center of LA. Sensing my worry, Tori chimes in.
"Alright Mr. Driver, we're new here, as you can probably tell. So, drop us off at the best place to shop until we drop!"
The driver takes the hint, and suddenly were at the Hollywood strip. NYC on steroids. The two of us hop out of the car and gawk at the sheer volume of designer shops we see.
"Tori..."
"Yes Kale?"
"I'm gonna be broke after today, aren't I?"
"Fuck it! We're in LA baby!"
And with that- we set off. Money in hand, ready to blow.
We find ourselves in a bougie boutique filled to the brim with formal attire. I start to question our belonging here.
"Tori, were going to cheesecake factory, not one of Gordon Ramsay's three Michelin star restaurants. Do we need to be this dressy?"
"Kale for the last time, you want Mark to fall head over heels for you. This is the way to go, trust me."
Almost thirty minutes later after finding nothing, Tori walks over to me and hands me a dress.
"Say nothing, just go try it on."
I comply.
Looking in the mirror, I can see why Tori picked this out for me. The black dress accentuates my figure like nothing else has ever. There's a slit in the thigh, and a sweetheart neckline to boot. I walk out of the dressing room to see Tori wide eyed.
"Yep, that's the one Kale. If you don't buy it, I'm calling the police." I laugh. I can't help but feel exposed in it. However... It's beautiful. I check the price and cringe.
"I'll buy it if you promise tonight isn't the only time I'll wear it. For this price, I better be getting some use out of it."
"Kale don't you worry, I got us covered."
We check out, head back to our hotel, and get ready to go to dinner.
-----At around 7pm, after Tori and I have our dresses on and makeup applied, I hear a knock on our door. I can't help but freeze up.
"Tori, you need to answer it. I know it's Mark and I'm high-key anxious about this dress."
"Sometimes Kale, you're the biggest wuss." I stick my tongue out at her.
She walks over and opens up to find Mark in a dressier outfit, ready to go.
"Hey Tori! You girls ready?" Tori leans in and whispers to him.
"Yes, but Michaela is having a breakdown because she looks hot and doesn't want you to see." She throws Mark a wink. He laughs. "Kale! Get over here. I don't want to be late."
I sigh and walk over to them. Mark looks at me, freezes for a little too long, and then speaks.
"Tori, you were right." I give a confused look to her and she waves me off. "Anyway, let's get going, I don't want to keep Shaun waiting!"
We set off.
It took us no time to get there. As soon as Mark said his name to the hostess she took us back to a reserved room where Jack, and two other guys were sitting and conversing. Mark gasps and runs over excitedly.
"Bob! Wade! When did you guys get here!" He exclaims, hugging each of them. I recognize the names.
We sit, me next to Mark and Tori eagerly next to Jack. The conversing starts.
"You girls really dressed up today, when I said nice I didn't mean THIS nice but- I'm not disappointed!" Jack chuckles and looks at Tori, who blushes.
"Tori insisted we hit the strip and look our 'best.'" I confirm, earning a nod from her. Mark chimes in.
"Yeah, you both look beautiful." He throws me a short gaze and I can feel my cheeks heating up. Bob and Wade look at each other for maybe a little too long in suspicion.
We order our food and eat until our hearts content. The waitress walks over.
"Can I interest you all in some dessert?" I'm thrown into a conflict. Not that I don't LOVE cheesecake, but I definitely couldn't eat a whole piece.
"Yes please!" Mark exclaims. The waitress passes out the cheesecake menu, which has over fifty different options on it. Mark and I both eye the Oreo cheesecake.
I decide to pass on desert since I don't want to waste the food. When the waitress comes over and takes orders, I pass, letting Mark go. He looks at me, looks at the menu, and orders.
"I'll take a slice of Oreo. Oh, and can you make it a cheesecake for two?" He throws me a side eye. I snicker. She nods and takes our menus.
"Mark you really didn't have to-"
"Nonsense, eat up. The slice is on me. Whatever we don't finish, we can eat while we watch more Netflix later." I stare, wide eyed.
Is he saying he's gonna spend the night in our room?
